Patent number: 10644502Abstract: A power tool has a tool holder, an electric motor, a handle, and a main switch for switching on the electric motor. The power tool executes the following control method. The main switch is scanned to see whether it has been actuated. A start inhibitor transmits a blocking signal to a motor controller if the main switch is actuated before the power tool has been connected to the power supply. An activator receives signals from a control unit separate from the electric power tool, compares the received signals with a predefined signature and transmits a release signal to the motor controller if the received signal corresponds to the predefined signature. The motor controller switches on the electric motor in response to actuation of the main switch if the start inhibitor is not transmitting a blocking signal or the activator is transmitting a release signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2016Date of Patent: May 5, 2020Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventors: Franz Moessnang, Laurent-Sebastian Kock, Karl Neuper

Publication number: 20190314970Abstract: A control method for a percussive hand-held power tool (1) includes the steps: detecting a switching state of an operating button (12), detecting a temperature T using a temperature sensor (22), activating an electropneumatic striking mechanism (5) in response to an actuation of the operating button (12), an exciter (13) of the electropneumatic striking mechanism (5) being moved forward and backward along a working axis (3) at a repetition rate R, whereby a striker (14) coupled to the exciter (13) via a pneumatic chamber (16) is also moved. If the temperature T is greater than a limiting temperature Tc, the repetition rate R is continuously increased from idle up to a setpoint value (21). A duration until reaching the setpoint value (21) is less than 10 cycles. If the temperature T is less than the limiting temperature Tc, a duration until reaching the setpoint value (21) is greater than 200 cycles.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2017Publication date: October 17, 2019Inventors: Markus HARTMANN, Franz MOESSNANG, Laurent-Sebastian KOCK, Philipp LORENZ, Eduard PFEIFFER

Patent number: 10414036Abstract: The control method for a hammer drill (1) provides the following steps. During basic operation, the motor (5) rotates at an operating speed for the drilling operation with chiseling action in order to rotationally drive the tool holder (2) and to drive the hammer mechanism (6) with a nominal striking power. The torque coupling (21) is monitored with the aid of a sensor (26). If a disengagement of the torque coupling (21) occurs, the striking power of the hammer mechanism (6) is reduced to below 10% of the nominal striking power during a disengagement of the torque coupling (21), and the torque coupling (21) is driven. When the disengagement of the torque coupling (21) ends, the striking power of the hammer mechanism (6) is increased to the nominal striking power and the torque coupling (21) is driven at the operating speed for the drilling operation with chiseling action.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2015Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventors: Roland Schaer, Antonios Draganis, Peter Hricko, Franz Moessnang, Erwin Manschitz

Publication number: 20180043521Abstract: A hand-held power tool (1) includes a tool holder (2) for holding a tool on a working axis (11) and a motor (5) for rotationally driving the tool holder (2) about the working axis (11). The motor (5) is situated in a power-tool housing (16) and a handle (9) is fastened on the power-tool housing (16) for guiding the hand-held power tool (1) during operation. A rotary motion sensor (15) detects a rotary motion of the power-tool housing (16) about the working axis (11). A monitor (19) ascertains a holding force based on an amplitude of the rotary motion in a frequency range between 0.4 Hz and 4 Hz. A safety device (13) reduces a torque output to the tool holder (2) when the detected rotary motion exceeds a limiting value, the limiting value being set as a function of the holding force.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2015Publication date: February 15, 2018Inventors: Franz Moessnang, Antonios Draganis, Roland Schaer, Peter Hricko, Erwin Manschitz, Bernd Gillmeier

Patent number: 9597788Abstract: A handheld power tool has a switchable gear component actuatable by a selector switch. The gear component moves from a first operating position into a second operating position. The selector switch has a first switching position associated with the first operating position and a second switching position associated with the second operating position, and movable so that intermediate positions are assumed. A traveling coupling between the selector switch and the gear component has a spring exerting force onto the gear component in the first direction. A locking bolt is coupled to the selector switch in a positively driven manner. In the intermediate positions, the locking bolt is moved into a blocking bolt position blocking movement of the gear component out of the first operating position into the second operating position. When the selector switch is in the second switching position, the locking bolt is in a releasing bolt position.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2013Date of Patent: March 21, 2017Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventors: Franz Moessnang, Ralf Greitmann, Markus Hartmann, Manfred Ludwig
