  • Patent number: 5214121
Abstract: Diols containing perfluoroalkyl radicals are produced by reacting compounds of the formulaR.sub.f --(E).sub.m --X'--H(R.sub.f =perfluoroalkyl radical, E is an alkylene group optionally interrupted by certain groups and/or substituted at the end, m=0 or 1, X'--H=--CONRH, --SO.sub.2 NRH or --SH) in a first step with diols containing at least 2 halogen atoms. Preferably the obtained products are reacted in a second reaction step with polyvalent isocyanates to prepolymers with free --NCO-- or free --OH--groups and these prepolymers are reacted in a third step with compounds containing isocyanate groups and/or hydroxyl groups. The first reaction step is carried out in an aprotic solvent which is insoluble in water, in the presence of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal carbonate. Intermediate products have not to be isolated. The obtained polyurethanes can be used in form of aqueous dispersions for the oil- and water repellent finishing of textiles.

  • Patent number: 5057589
Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of modified polysiloxanes by reaction of polyvinylsiloxanes with compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R is H, CH.sub.3 or C.sub.2 H.sub.5, in which at least one radical R is H, and R.sub.f is a perfluoroalkyl radical having 8 to 16 C atoms, in about equivalent amounts, relative to the vinyl groups, at elevated temperature. In addition, the polysiloxanes prepared in this manner are protected. Equally, the use of these polysiloxanes for the oil- and water-repellent treatment of fiber materials is claimed. This treatment makes it possible to achieve very good wash- and cleaning-resistant oil- and water-repellency, using small amounts of fluorine.

  • Patent number: 5047065
Abstract: An aqueous finishing agent for providing fibrous materials with a soft water and oil repellent treatment is provided. The finishing agent comprisesA) 25 to 65% by weight of a perfluoroaliphatic group-bearing water/oil-repellent agent (at least 5% by weight fluorine) in dispersion,B) 10 to 35% by weight of a dispersion of an emulsifiable polyethylene (density at 20.degree. C. at least 0.92 g/cm.sup.3, acid number at least 5) andC) 25 to 40% by weight of a fluorine-free dispersion of a soft-hand extender based on a modified hydrogen alkyl polysiloxane. A process for providing fibrous materials with a soft water and oil repellent treatment is also provided. The finishing agent provides fibrous material with excellent properties which are resistant to washing and dry cleaning and a particularly smooth, soft hand.

  • Patent number: 4834764
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for obtaining wash- and cleaning-resistant textile finishes by impregnating with customary reactive perfluoroalkyl-containing (co)polymers and/or precondensates in aqueous dispersion and concluding heating, wherein the dispersions have NCO-containing compounds which have a molecular weight of at least 450 and/or contain a diphenylmethane-based polyisocyanate mixture in blocked form. The process according to the invention has made it possible to equip textiles with water-repellant and oil-repellant finishes which are very highly wash- and cleaning-resistant.

  • Patent number: 4113947
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the manufacture of addition products from nitrogen containing compounds which contain at least one ethylenically unsaturated radical and organopolysiloxanes which contain hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon, and a process for treating fibrous materials with the resultant addition product composition. The process comprises adding to the organopolysiloxanes allylmelamines, allylguanamines, monoallyl- or diallylureas, monoallyl- or diallylthioureas or cyclic urea derivatives which contain at least one ethylenically unsaturated radical. The addition is carried out in the presence of methylolated aminoplast formers which can also be etherified with lower alcohols, or in the presence of the cited unsaturated compounds in their methylolated form. The unsaturated compounds can also be used direct in methylolated and etherified form. The resultant addition products are used in an aqueous emulsion or an organic solvent for the treatment of fibrous materials.
