  • Publication number: 20060081443
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for conveying transverse axially rod-shaped articles of the tobacco-processing industry. The device includes at least one fluted conveyor device with flutes for the articles. In this manner, the width of the flutes is greater than the diameter of the articles and the flutes respectively have at least one suction boring that can be acted on with a vacuum for holding the articles by a vacuum at a position in the flute.

  • Publication number: 20050022830
Abstract: Apparatus for making rod-shaped tobacco products with a filter that includes a tobacco stick delivery device, a filter delivery device, a covering paper delivery device, a cigarette making device, a cigarette testing device, and a cigarette dispensing device. All the devices, in which each device includes at least one drum, are arranged to form a drum course. A drive element is structured and arranged to drive at least some of the drums of the drum course in positional synchronization with the transport of the rod-shaped tobacco products, and a drum unit is composed of at least one drum, which is not one of the at least some drums, and a bearing and control flange. At least one separate additional drive element is structured and arranged to drive the at least one drum, and a drive unit is composed of the separate drive element and the drum unit. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 6840247
Abstract: A filter-attachment machine in the tobacco-processing industry is provided. The machine has a plurality of conveying devices for products in the tobacco-processing industry, and at least one main drive that drives the plurality of conveying devices. The machine also has a pull-off device for pulling a cover tape ribbon from a cover tape supply, a cover-tape cutting device for cutting the cover tape ribbon into sections of a predetermined length, and at least one secondary drive that drives the pull-off device and the cover-tape cutting device. The cover tape ribbon is conveyed from the pull-off device to the cover-tape cutting device, and the sections of cover tape ribbon are transferred to the products on one of the plurality of conveying devices.

  • Patent number: 6258168
Abstract: A paster for the application of a film of water-containing adhesive to a running substrate of cigarette paper or the like automatically replaces the evaporated percentage of water when the substrate-processing machine is idle but the paster continues to circulate adhesive in order to prevent a rise in the viscosity of the then circulating and water releasing adhesive. The quantity of water in the circulating adhesive and other parameters (such as the temperature) of the adhesive are monitored by several sensors, and signals which are transmitted by such sensors are processed to regulate the admission of water in order to maintain the percentage of water, and hence the consistency, of the circulating adhesive within a range not appreciably departing from that when the paster is in actual use to apply one or more films of adhesive to the running substrate.

  • Patent number: 6145407
Abstract: A click-stop gear shift with a detent spring in a housing. The detent spring has a projection which engages notches defined in a rotary member connected to a rotary handle. The detent spring has an outer and an inner spring portions which, together with an arcuate portion, form a curved shape. The inner spring portion is supported by a support member. By selectively positioning the support member along the inner spring portion, the stiffness of the detent spring can be changed. The ability of the relatively long spring portion to vibrate allows a desirable noise to be produced that serves as an acoustic confirmation of the gear shifting movement for the user.
