  • Patent number: 7694565
Abstract: This invention relates to the field of signal transit time sensors, in particular sensors based on ultrasonic transit times. Existing electronic control circuits for such transit time sensors for measurements on medical liquids, in particular blood, are extremely complex or their time resolution is limited. However, the present invention makes use of a simple measurement technique which cannot be used directly at first for the time resolution to be achieved. In this method, an ordinary sampling method is used to detect the received signal (12). An oscillator-like received signal (12) generated by an emitted step-like signal is first sampled during a half-period (14, 15) and is checked with the help of a selection criterion.

  • Patent number: 6653841
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and method for carrying out a contactless measurement of the conductivity of a liquid situated in a flow channel, and to the use of said device and method. According to the invention, the invention provides that a toroidal coil is precisely arranged around the flow channel. Said toroidal coil is interconnected with a capacitor to an oscillating circuit. The invention also provides that the electric characteristics of this circuit are then measured according to the conductivity which is sought after.

  • Patent number: 6542761
Abstract: A device for measuring parameters of medical fluids having a measurement chamber through which the fluid to be measured passes. The chamber is sealed on one side by a flexible membrane, and it also has a measurement plate that has a peripheral seal on its outer edge and is in contact with the flexible membrane. At least one sensor for measuring a parameter of the medical fluid is mounted on the measurement plate, and the measurement plate has a continuous inlet leading to the flexible membrane so that a vacuum can be established between the measurement plate and the flexible membrane.

  • Patent number: 5769087
Abstract: A body fluid measurement apparatus for continually monitoring the body fluids produced by a catheterized patient is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a discharge hose in fluid communication with the patient, a housing that supports the discharge hose, a dripping chamber for temporarily holding the body fluid while temperature and electrical conductivity measurements are made, a force transducer for producing a signal representing the weight of the body fluid mass collected, a container for collecting the body fluid that is suspended from the force transducer, a storage cell power source, and a computer for processing a signal generated by the force transducer, for generating a timing signal, and for computing the patient's body fluid volume flow in a certain time interval. All computed measurements are sent to a display also located on the apparatus.
