    Abstract: In accordance with a first aspect, filling disocclusions in a virtual view video has identifying a background portion of a first virtual view image of the virtual view video based on a depth/disparity map associated with a first virtual view image, updating a background sprite image based on the background portion of a first virtual view image, and filling a disoccluded area of a second virtual view image of the virtual view video based on a corresponding portion of the background sprite image. According to a second aspect, filling a disoccluded area in a virtual view image is performed by patch-based texture synthesis being responsive to a depth/disparity map associated with a virtual view image.

    Abstract: A codec supporting switching between time-domain aliasing cancellation transform coding mode and time-domain coding mode is made less liable to frame loss by adding a further syntax portion to the frames, depending on which the parser of the decoder may select between a first action of expecting the current frame to have, and thus reading forward aliasing cancellation data from the current frame and a second action of not-expecting the current frame to have, and thus not reading forward aliasing cancellation data from the current frame. In other words, while a bit of coding efficiency is lost due to the provision of the new syntax portion, it is merely the new syntax portion which provides for the ability to use the codec in case of a communication channel with frame loss. Without the new syntax portion, the decoder would not be capable of decoding any data stream portion after a loss and will crash in trying to resume parsing.

    Abstract: In order to process a subband signal of a plurality of real subband signals which are a representation of a real discrete-time signal generated by an analysis filter bank, a weighter for weighting a subband signal by a weighting factor determined for the subband signal is provided to obtain a weighted subband signal. In addition, a correction term is calculated by a correction term determiner, the correction term determiner being implemented to calculate the correction term using at least one other subband signal and using another weighting factor provided for the other subband signal, the two weighting factors differing. The correction term is then combined with the weighted subband signal to obtain a corrected subband signal, resulting in reduced aliasing, even if subband signals are weighted to a different extent.

    Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a plurality of loudspeakers arranged at different positions includes a generator of a test signal for a loudspeaker; a microphone device configured for receiving a plurality of different sound signals in response to one or more loudspeaker signals emitted by one of the loudspeakers in response to the test signal; a controller for controlling emissions of the loudspeaker signals by the loudspeakers and for handling the different sound signals so that a set of sound signals recorded by the microphone device is associated with each loudspeaker in response to the test signal; and an evaluator for evaluating the set of sound signals for each loudspeaker to determine at least one loudspeaker characteristic for each loudspeaker and for indicating a loudspeaker state using the at least one loudspeaker characteristic. This scheme allows automatic, efficient and accurate measurement of loudspeakers arranged in a three-dimensional configuration.
