  • Patent number: 8840744
Abstract: A method of preventing a handheld electronic device from slipping in relation to a smooth hard surface having a low coefficient of friction is disclosed. The method includes forming a decorative layer from a label stock; forming a contoured surface on an anti-slip layer; bonding the decorative layer and the anti-slip layer together to form an anti-slip skin; and adhering the anti-slip skin to the handheld electronic device. The contoured surface prevents the handheld device from slipping on the hard surface.

  • Patent number: 8609214
Abstract: A combination handheld device and anti-slip film is produced by combining a thin, dimensionally stable plastic film having a smooth surface finish with a silicone elastomer having a low durometer and a textured and polished surface finish. The film includes adhesive means for adhering the film to objects such as a handheld device.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 17, 2013
    Inventor: Fred A. Antonini
  • Publication number: 20130022792
Abstract: A film includes a dimensionally stable plastic film with a layer of elastic material applied to a first surface of the plastic film. An adhesive is applied to an opposing second surface of the plastic film. The film is adhesively bonded to an object and prevents slipping of an object relative to a structure via the elastic material.

  • Patent number: 8124216
Abstract: A skin (11) for use with a handheld electronic device is disclosed. The skin (11) includes a decorative layer, an anti-slip layer adhered over the decorative layer, and an adhesive layer disposed between the decorative layer and the anti-slip layer. The anti-slip layer has a surface finish (19) having a high coefficient of friction. The skin (11) is attached to the handheld electronic device by a layer of adhesive (16) on the back of the decorative layer. The skin (11) is selectively shaped to conform to the contours, shape, and components of the handheld electronic device. The skin (11) provides anti-slip and shock absorption functionalities to the handheld electronic device, but does not prevent or impede the handheld electronic device from mating with or connecting to corresponding accessory components.
