  • Patent number: 10789463
Abstract: New authentication features are proposed that are visible, can be authenticated with a mobile equipment and yet are challenging to counterfeit. In a possible embodiment, the surface of the authentication feature may have three-dimensional characteristics, which can be recognized by a handheld camera, such as a smartphone camera, while it cannot be easily reproduced by a simple scan and print procedure. In a further possible embodiment, at least two different viewpoints of the authentication feature may be acquired using a smartphone camera and the resulting images may be analyzed using the smartphone processor to identify the three-dimensional characteristics of the authentication feature. The manufacturing of the feature may be performed at a low cost by embossing the three dimensional structure on a surface. The authentication feature may be carried by a self-adhesive label or directly embedded on the product packaging.

  • Patent number: 7991186
Abstract: A method to generate a security pattern to be embedded in an original image has the particularity that the detection of the security pattern can be achieved through a simple, low processing capability device. The method for generating a security image comprising the original image and the security pattern is characterized in that the security pattern is formed by an inverse transform of the combination in the frequency domain of an auxiliary image and a radially symmetric, two-dimensional pattern, said two-dimensional pattern created by sweeping a self-similar, one-dimensional function along a 360-degree arc, and the security image is generated by the modulation of at least one color of at least a part of the original image with the pattern.

  • Publication number: 20080159615
Abstract: The present invention aims to propose a method to generate a security pattern to be embedded in an original image having the particularity that the detection of the security pattern can be achieved through a simple, low processing capability device. The present invention proposes a method for generating a security image comprising an original image and a security pattern, characterized in that the security pattern has the form of a grating in which the lines width and/or the line spacing is modulated to embody a predefined data, the security image is generated by the modulation of at least one color of at least a part of the original image with the grating. The present invention belongs to the fields of security printing and copy protection of banknotes. It aims at preventing illegal copy and duplication of banknotes by printing a security image on the banknote. A device capable of detecting this security image with one-dimensional signal processing is described.

  • Patent number: 6086397
Abstract: A power strip is disclosed with an access panel which is situated and designed such that upon its removal, a sensor may be readily attached and the current load monitored. The access panel is arranged such that the receptacles, the power strip itself, or any of the electrical devices connected to the power strip do not need to be powered down to access the internal circuitry. The "back-wiring" design of the present invention allows for the replacement of any receptacle without interrupting the flow of electrical current to the remaining receptacles. The "back-wiring" design ensures the electrical load is evenly distributed across all the receptacles while providing a secondary path by which the electrical current may reach the receptacles. Thus, the disruption of electrical current across one wire will not result in the disruption of electrical current to any receptacle. Additionally, protective cover plates are utilized to prevent the unauthorized insertion of electrical cords into a power strip.

  • Patent number: 3966273
Abstract: A telescoping or linear motion ball bearing synchronized slide mechanisms having inner and outer slide members held together by ball bearings, the balls being operably disposed in a ball retainer between the inner and outer slide members and means for precisely maintaining the relationship of these parts. This means comprising strips of friction material secured to the inner sides of the inner and outer slide members and extending longitudinally of these slide members. The ball retainer has longitudinally spaced openings with rollers or holders operably mounted to the ball retainer at these openings and a continuous or endless flexible band of friction material is mounted on these rollers and extends longitudinally of the ball retainer.
