  • Patent number: 10398511
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining a patient specific soft tissue location within a joint are discussed. For example, a method can include imaging a target location for an orthopedic implant to collect image data regarding a morphology of the patient, the morphology including at least one of bone size and bone feature. The method can additionally include accessing stored soft tissue data and bone data corresponding to the target location of the orthopedic implant, locating a soft tissue of the patient based at least in part upon the soft tissue data and bone data and the image data, and displaying data including the location of the soft tissue of the patient. This data can be used to created patient specific surgical jigs according to one example of the present application.

  • Patent number: 10271954
Abstract: Methods, techniques and apparatuses are disclosed including exemplary methods of performing a knee arthroplasty of the tibia. One exemplary method can include determining at least a depth of a distal fixation feature of a tibial implant, and forming a metaphyseal recess in a proximal portion of the tibia. The recess can be configured to receive the distal fixation feature therein and can be sized to exceed at least the depth of the distal fixation feature such that when a distal surface of the tibial implant contacts a proximal surface of the proximal portion of the tibia and the distal fixation feature is received in the metaphyseal recess, a gap remains between the distal fixation feature and one or more surfaces that form a portion of the metaphyseal recess.

  • Publication number: 20040260208
Abstract: A device for measuring a varus rotation angle in a knee comprises a femoral reference member configured to be positioned medially of the knee, a first arm hingedly engaged to the femoral reference member, and a first potentiometer to output an angular relationship between the femoral reference member and the first arm. The device also includes a second arm hingedly engaged to the first arm, and a second potentiometer to output an angular relationship between the first and second arms, wherein the varus rotation angle is determinable from the outputs of the first and second potentiometers. Furthermore, a joint-space opening of the knee joint may be determined using the outputs of the first and second potentiometers.
