  • Patent number: 4721283
Abstract: A vent valve construction, storage tank containing the same and method of making the same are provided, the vent valve construction having a body member provided with a tubular portion that has opposed open ends one of which is adapted to be disposed in the storage compartment of the storage tank and the other of which is adapted to be accessible from the exterior of the storage tank wall, the valve member of the vent valve construction having a stem projecting through the one open end of the tubular portion to operatively interconnect the valve member to a piston unit disposed in the tubular portion and a removable closure means closing the other open end of the tubular portion.

  • Patent number: 4229024
Abstract: A swivel connector between a hose reel and a source of product has a first body secured to the source of product and a second body secured to the hose reel. The first body has a plurality of stepped bores cooperating with various outer surfaces of the second body. A pair of non-metallic, non-corrosive bearings is disposed between two different stepped bores and two different outer surfaces with a seal ring disposed therebetween. A plastic thrust ring is disposed between a shoulder of the first body and a first surface of a thrust flange of the second body to absorb the thrust due to relative movement of the second body into the first body. The thrust flange has a second surface, which is parallel to the first surface, against which a first wear ring bears. The first wear ring has a plurality of balls bearing thereagainst on its side remote from the thrust flange. A retainer is supported on the first body and has a flange providing a surface against which a second wear ring abuts.

  • Patent number: 4079969
Abstract: A swivel connector between a flexible hose and a nozzle has a reduced portion of a first body secured to the nozzle and an enlarged portion of a second body secured to the hose with the first and second bodies, which have an enlarged portion of the first body overlapping a reduced portion of the second body, providing aligned passages therethrough to provide communication between the hose and the nozzle. A plastic thrust bearing is disposed between a metallic ring secured by set screws to the enlarged portion of the first body and a metallic ring mounted by flats on the ring cooperating with flats on the reduced portion of the second body so that each of the rings rotates with the body to which it is connected.

  • Patent number: 4036255
Abstract: A vapor recovery adapter has a housing supported on a storage tank having a volatile liquid therein. The housing is connected to other tanks, which also are vented by the adapter in addition to the tank on which the housing is mounted, through an inlet port perpendicular to an inlet port communicating with the tank on which the housing is mounted. Diametrically disposed to the inlet port to the other tanks is a first outlet port through which all of the tanks are vented when not being filled and through which any of the tanks can receive air when liquid is being withdrawn therefrom. The first outlet port is blocked by slidable valve means in the housing when any tank is to be filled and a second outlet port at the top of the housing is opened to allow the vapor to be vented from any tank being filled to a truck tank from which the tank is being filled so that there is no exhaust of vapor to the atmosphere.
