  • Publication number: 20130214919
Abstract: A system is provided for logging failures of using seatbelts by occupants of a motor vehicle. The system includes a digital processor, a non-volatile memory, an odometer/speedometer, a clock circuit, seatbelt sensors and a passenger occupancy sensors data. The digital processor utilizes data from the odometer/speedometer for determining the distances travelled by the motor vehicle while occupants were not using seatbelts. The non-volatile memory is configured to record logs for the failures. The digital processor utilizes data from the clock circuit for counting the total times while one or more occupants were not using their seatbelts. The odometer/speedometer verifies that the failures occurred while the motor vehicle was in motion.

  • Patent number: 8188813
Abstract: A microwave filter having a resonator comprising a cylindrical structure having conductive walls filled with a conductor material. The cylindrical structure is recessed inside a multi-layered substrate. First and second conductive coupling arms are disposed on the top layer of the substrate for coupling signals to the cylindrical structure. The conductive coupling arms are physically separated from the cylindrical structure by a dielectric layer. The first and second conductive coupling arms extend away from the center of the cylindrical structure to form a microstrip line. The cylindrical structure further comprises a bottom portion having a solid conductive bottom plate perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder. A bottom conductive ground layer separated from the conductive bottom plate by a second dielectric layer.

  • Publication number: 20110043328
Abstract: Special time domain techniques with novel circuitry are implemented for instantaneous precision frequency measurement of a signal comprised of short bursts emitted from a reference transmitter. Carrier frequency of the bursts is determined either by a special gated frequency counter or high speed sampling and spectral analysis. As a result of inherent precision frequency measurement and reproduction by using time domain techniques, the range of a combined unit, i.e., universal garage door openers UGDO and remote keyless entry RKE which is referred to as UT (Universal Transmitter) is further improved. Instantaneous determination of frequency and code of the reference transmitters is achieved and training procedure difficulties/failures which occur from auto-shutoff feature are totally eliminated.

  • Patent number: 7466144
Abstract: A microwave measurement system is utilized for the determination of displacement of a piston in a fluid filled cylindrical structure. The piston plus cylindrical encasement of the hydraulic system is modeled as a uniform cylindrical waveguide terminated in a metal plate. A novel shaped probe antenna to measure the slope of the relative phase of the reflected equivalent voltage wave with respect to frequency. The idea to measure the slope of the relative phase is novel and requires a new antenna structure. Instead of using the phase slope with respect to frequency, the total phase shift in a given frequency range is used to determine the location of the piston in the cylindrical chamber. Simulation and measurement will be used to determine the impedance of the antenna as well as the electromagnetic field at different locations inside the cylinder. In addition, the antenna will be analyzed to optimize its design, which ought to result in minimizing the reflections.
