Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product for sending an electronic message using an incentive-based messaging system. The computer system identifies an incentive amount for the electronic message. The computer system reserves a proportional amount of currency from a sender's account. The proportional amount of currency is based on the incentive amount. In response to reserving the proportional amount of currency, the computer system attaches both the incentive amount and an authentication of the incentive amount to the electronic message. The computer system sends the electronic message to a recipient. A portion of the proportional amount of currency is transferred to a recipient's account in response to the recipient performing an action with respect to the electronic message. In response to transferring the portion of the currency to the account of the electronic message recipient, the computer system sends a payment receipt to a sender of the electronic message.
