  • Patent number: 5135412
Abstract: The present invention relates to hold-downs for securing components to circuit assemblies and more particularly to hold-down terminals for securing connectors to printed circuit boards.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 1991
Date of Patent: August 4, 1992
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
    Inventor: Fred C. Sitzler
  • Patent number: 5002507
Abstract: The present invention relates to circuit board contact elements and compliant sections thereof which are mounted in plated-through holes in printed circuit boards, generally in conjunction with a plastic header or other electrical connectors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 1990

  • Patent number: 4923414
Abstract: The present invention relates to compliant sections utilized on contact elements which are mounted in plated-through holes in printed circuit boards, generally in conjunction with a plastic header and other electrical connectors. More particularly, the invention disclosed comprises a compliant section which includes a first deformable member and a second deformable member defining a substantially tear drop shaped space therebetween such that when the compliant section is press fit into an appropriately sized hole the members flex together forming a tapered shape.

  • Patent number: 4705338
Abstract: A zero insertion force connector for a printed circuit card. The connector has opposed rows of terminals having normally spaced contacts at the ends of outwardly bowed portions. Cams and followers are located beneath the bowed portions in positions where the followers can engage the bowed portions, engage the contacts with an inserted card and then stress the bowed portions, supplying contact normal force and contact wipe.

  • Patent number: 4327956
Abstract: An elongate dual beam electrical terminal and a connector containing a plurality of same. The terminal has a contact at each end. One of the contacts is defined by a pair of longitudinally disposed beams with laterally opposed stand-off tabs which preload the beams to provide for low insertion force interconnection with pin contacts. The connector includes a terminal housing having a plurality of housing cavities which contain the dual beam contact terminals. For use in the connector, the contacts of the terminals opposite the dual beam ends of the terminals are wire insulation displacement contacts. The latter contacts protrude from the housing cavities for electrical interconnection with insulated wires carried on an insulation displacement contact block. The block is mated with the terminal housing, and a strain relief shroud fits over the block and latches to the terminal housing to form the assembled connector.
