Abstract: Semiconductor electroacupuncture needles are disclosed, as well methods of making and using the semiconductor electroacupuncture needles. A controller for controlling the characteristics of the voltage applied to the needles and/or the current flowing through the needles is described. In some embodiments, a portion of the electro acupuncture needle is insulated to control the position below the skin at which the current enters the patient. In some embodiments, an LED on the needle lights when current above a threshold value is passing through the needle and into the patient.

Abstract: A semiconductor laser diode capable of generating variable wavelengths includes an oxide layer having an elongated cavity or gap formed through the oxide layer for outputting a band of wavelengths therefrom. A fiber optic may be connected to the cavity or gap to operate the diode as a light modulating transmitter.

Abstract: A device for cleaving fiber optic cable includes a grooved drum about which a cable is reeved mounted on a base which includes clamps for the cable ends. A cleaving break is provided beneath a section of the cable in the periphery of the drum which is expandable to vary the cleaving break dimensions. In the cleaving break is mounted a device for circumferentially scoring the cable which is then cleaved at the score mark by forcibly expanding the drum and thus the size of the cleaving break. Mechanism is provided for effecting such expansion.
