Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of increasing one or more of collagen, elastin, fibronectin, and hyaluronic acid gene expression in the skin of a subject comprising topically administering to the subject a hyaluronic acid compound and a retinoid in one or more compositions. The methods improve the look, feel and/or appearance of the skin, hydrate the skin, plump the skin, improve skin elasticity, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the depth, length, or width of fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth the skin. The present invention also relates to cosmetic compositions comprising a hyaluronic acid compound wherein the composition is anhydrous.
