Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for screening for compounds that modulate insulin promoter activity. Vectors that express green fluorescent protein under the control of the human insulin promoter are introduced into mouse and human cells in which the insulin promoter is expressed in a glucose-responsive manner. Such cells are then used to screen for compounds that modulate insulin promoter activity.

Abstract: A selection system for selecting at least one candidate from a group of potential candidates includes a survey database, a candidate database, and a processor. The survey database is configured to store statistical date. The candidate database is configured to store potential candidate information regarding at least one candidate. The processor may be in communication with the survey database and the candidate database. The processor may also be configured to perform a comparison between the statistical data and the candidate information and select at least one candidate from a group of potential candidates based upon the comparison.

Abstract: A system includes a memory device and a processor. The processor communicates with the memory device. The processor is configured to record courtroom event information, in real time, based upon events occurring within a courtroom during a jury selection process. The processor is also configured to select member of the jury from a jury panel based upon events occurring within the courtroom during a jury selection process.
