Abstract: The instant invention provides aqueous soluble prodrugs of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein R is —CH2OZ, —C(═O)OCH2OZ or Z, wherein Z is formula (a), —P(═O)(OH)2 or —C(═O)Q: n is an integer of from 0 to 3; m is an integer of from 0 to 1, of certain tachykinin antagonists (NK1 antagonists) useful in the treatment of emesis.

Abstract: Benzobicyclic lactam acids having a fused aromatic carbocyclic and a saturated lactam ring of five- or six-members, their salts, esters, and amides, are useful in the treatment of senility and for reversing amnesia. Pharmaceutical compositions including these compounds, a method of preparing the compounds, and a method of treating senility and reversing amnesia area also disclosed.

Abstract: A class of novel fused-ring, benzotricyclic, nitrogen-containing diones useful as agents in reversing electroconvulsive shock-induced amnesia. A method of preparing the compounds, pharmaceutical compositions including the compounds, and a method of reversing electroconvulsive shock-induced amnesia are disclosed.

Abstract: N-[1-oxo-3-(5-oxo-2-pyrrolidinyl)propyl]-alpha-aminoacids, base addition salts, esters, and amides are useful as cognition activators. Pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds and methods of using the pharmaceutical compositions for treating senility or amnesia are also disclosed.

Abstract: 1-(Diarylmethyl)-4-piperidinamine and derivatives thereof of the formula ##STR1## or a non-toxic pharmocologically acceptable acid addition salt thereof; wherein Ar, Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 independently are phenyl, phenyl substituted with up to five halogens, alkyl radicals of 1 to 7 carbon atoms or alkoxy radicals of 1 to 7 carbon atoms, 3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenyl or pyridyl optionally substituted with up to four alkyl radicals of 1 to 7 carbon atoms; and R and R.sup.1 are each hydrogen or together form a double bond between the nitrogen and carbon atoms to which they are attached are disclosed. These compounds are useful because of their anti-convulsant and anti-ulcer activity.

Abstract: 2-Aryl-4-(1-piperazinyl)-3H-1,5-benzodiazepines of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl having from 1 to 7 carbon atoms or phenyl; Ar is phenyl, trifluoromethylphenyl or phenyl substituted with 1 or 2 halogen, alkyl having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; X and Y are each hydrogen, halogen, alkyl having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and the dotted line represents a single bond wherein hydrogen is attached to N or a double bond. These compounds are useful as muscle relaxants.
