  • Patent number: 4024119
Abstract: Sulfone polymers are disclosed containing bibenzyl sulfone repeating units having the formula ##STR1## These polymers exhibit good mechanical properties, toughness, flexiblity, thermal and chemical stability and can be heat processed, extruded, drawn or otherwise formed into shaped articles having a high degree of strength and good dielectric properties.

  • Patent number: 4017669
Abstract: Addition terpolymers of ethylene with an .alpha.-olefin and an unsaturated, functionally substituted monomer. Addition tetrapolymers of ethylene with an .alpha.-olefin having 3-18 carbon atoms, a nonconjugated diene having only one polymerizable double bond, and an unsaturated, functionally substituted monomer. A process for preparing copolymers of ethylene with an unsaturated functionally substituted monomer, and optionally also with at least one of the following: an .alpha.-olefin having 3-18 carbon atoms and a nonconjugated diene having only one polymerizable double bond; wherein the monomers are contacted in the presence of a vanadium compound soluble in hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons, in which vanadium is in the oxidation state of at least +3, an organoaluminum compound, and an organic compound having at least one carbon atom substituted by three halogen atoms which can be chlorine or bromine.
