  • Patent number: 4179261
Abstract: A burner construction having a plurality of burners disposed in a spaced arrangement thereof and each having ports for issuing fuel to be ignited, the construction having a plurality of ignition carry-over units respectively carried by the burners each being adapted to receive fuel from its respective burner and issue the same out of an ignition channel thereof that bridges part of the spacing between the burners adjacent thereto. Each carry-over unit has joint structure joining with the joint structure of an adjacent carry-over unit in such a manner that the joined joint structures cause the ignition channels thereof to be continuous between adjacent joined carry-over units.

  • Patent number: 4118175
Abstract: An adjustable air shutter arrangement for a tubular fuel burner wherein a sleeve is telescoped on the tubular burner for sliding relative thereto to progressively cover and uncover air inlet openings of the fuel burner, the sleeve having a longitudinal slot splitting the sleeve from one opposed end to the other opposed end thereof to define two adjacent longitudinal slot edges of the sleeve. The sleeve has a natural bias that causes the sleeve to grip the tubular burner and tend to move the longitudinal edges thereof together whereby the sleeve tends to frictionally remain in its telescoped position on the tubular burner by its natural gripping bias. The sleeve has tabs on the longitudinal edges to facilitate the spreading apart of the longitudinal edges to thereby permit easy sliding of the sleeve relative to the tubular burner.

  • Patent number: 3938945
Abstract: A burner construction having a tubular member provided with an inlet for receiving fuel from the supply thereof and having an outlet for issuing and burning a main flow of the received fuel to produce a main flame at the outlet. A deflector plate is carried by the tubular member adjacent the outlet for directing some of the received fuel substantially transverse of the tubular member to create an ignition flame substantially transverse to the tubular member for igniting the main flow of fuel at the outlet to create the main flame. Thus, a series of such burner constructions can be disposed in a side-by-side relation and one pilot burner can be utilized to ignite the same in serial relation through the ignitor flame plates thereof.

  • Patent number: 3938944
Abstract: An electric ignition assembly for a gas burner employs a resistance igniter element which is surrounded by a hood having an opening. A stream containing fuel is directed through the opening and along a surface portion above the igniter element so as not to directly impinge upon the igniter element.
