  • Publication number: 20110048731
Abstract: Method for analysis of hydrocarbon potential of subterranean regions by generating surfaces or geobodies and analyzing them for hydrocarbon indications. Reflection-based surfaces may be automatically created in a topologically consistent manner where individual surfaces do not overlap themselves and sets of multiple surfaces are consistent with stratigraphic superposition principles. Initial surfaces are picked from the seismic data (41), then broken into smaller parts (“patches”) that are predominantly topologically consistent (42), whereupon neighboring patches are merged in a topologically consistent way (43) to form a set of surfaces that are extensive and consistent (“skeleton”). Surfaces or geobodies thus extracted may be automatically analyzed and rated (214) based on a selected measure (213) such as one or more direct hydrocarbon indications (“DHI”), e.g. AVO classification.

  • Patent number: 7686561
Abstract: A material-handler adapted for locating on top of an open topped railroad car includes a chassis mounted on tracks, and a first and second pair of outriggers extending from the chassis. Wheels and clamps are located at the distal ends of the outriggers to stabilize the material handler on the top of the railroad car. A knuckle boom is rotatably mounted on the chassis for manipulating cargo materials. The material handler of the invention also utilizes the clamps and wheels on the outriggers in conjunction with the boom to self-load and self-unload the material handler to and from the top of a railroad car, and to and from one care to another with possible different height and width. Operator safety is enhanced by allowing the operator to control the self-loading and unloading via remote control.

  • Patent number: 6813537
Abstract: In an electrical apparatus wherein electrical devices are interconnected by coupling connectors and a desired interconnection of devices is achieved by an intended interconnection of mating components of coupling connectors, identification elements in one mating component of each connector produce identification signals representing identity of the mating component. Decoding means responsive to the identification signals produce an error signal representing an interconnection of connector components differing from the intended interconnection and, means responsive to the error signal effects a response when the actual interconnection of components differs from the intended interconnection of components. Responses are, advantageously, activation of an error indicator, inhibition of application of power to affected devices, or, with program controlled systems, display of a text error message, facilitation of user intervention for error correction, or automated re-programming to overcome interconnection errors.

  • Patent number: 4084078
Abstract: A device for perforating or cutting a target made of metal or other materials by means of a plasma jet. The device includes a cast grain of plasma producing pyrotechnic material that is coated over a major portion of its exterior surface with a combustion inhibiting layer. The coated grain is enclosed within an elongate hollow housing provided with closure plates at both ends thereof, with one of the plates having a nozzle opening that is substantially coextensive with a longitudinal recess formed within the grain so that the plasma jet produced by the incendiary reaction of the grain is directed out through the nozzle opening for impingement upon the target.

  • Patent number: 4060435
Abstract: There is described a floatable incendiary composition consisting essentially of magnesium powder, an oxidizer and an elastomeric polysiloxane which serves as a binder the amount of polysiloxane being sufficient to bind together the other components of the composition. The compositions are rendered floatable on the surface of water by incorporating into them a quantity of hollow microballoons in sufficient amount to lower the specific gravity of the composition concerned to less than 1.
