Abstract: Computerized data information relating to stored file directories, media labels and other relevant information is stored on the media package itself in a memory device separate from the media. The memory device is updated automatically when the media is inserted in a computer during use. A readout coupled to the memory gives a display of the contents of the media without the need to insert the media into the host computer.
