Abstract: A replaceable pressure sensor insert adapted for removable connection with an insert carrier. The pressure sensor insert is comprised of a housing defining an exterior and an interior of the housing, a pressure sensor connected with the housing such that the pressure sensor is capable of sensing an ambient pressure at the exterior of the housing and an electronics assembly contained within the interior of the housing and electrically connected with the pressure sensor. In addition, the insert is comprised of a first insert mounting component adapted to be removably connectable with a second insert mounting component associated with the insert carrier in order to facilitate connection and replacement of the insert. Finally, a housing sealing mechanism is provided for sealing the insert relative to the insert carrier and a sensor sealing mechanism is provided for sealing the pressure sensor relative to the housing.

Abstract: A carrier apparatus for connection with a pipe string for use in transporting at least one gauge downhole through a borehole. The apparatus includes a tubular body for connection with the pipe string having a bore for conducting a fluid therethrough and an outer surface, wherein the outer surface has at least one longitudinal recess formed therein. Further, at least one insert defining an internal chamber for receiving a gauge is mounted with the body such that at least a portion of the insert is receivable within the recess for engagement therewith. The apparatus also includes an interlocking interface comprised of the engagement between the insert and the recess, wherein the interlocking interface is configured such that the insert inhibits radial expansion of the body adjacent the recess. Finally, at least one passage provides fluid communication between the gauge and one of the bore of the body and the borehole.

Abstract: A device for sensing and recording downhole data relating to an ambient environment in a production well and a method for obtaining such downhole data utilizing the device. Further, the device is used in combination with a downhole pump, and preferably, in combination with a strainer for the downhole pump. The device is connected with the downhole pump, and particularly the strainer, such that the device and the downhole pump may be conveyed or transported within, and retrieved from, the production well together or as an integral unit.
