  • Publication number: 20150073392
Abstract: An intravenous infusion system that shows infusion flow rate, volume of medication infused, and alarming during malfunction. User intervention to adjust flow rates deviation is possible, using the data already stored in the system prior to the onset of making the adjustment. The system detects flow rate by measuring temperature dynamics in a section of the fluid path, unlike other systems that measures the electromechanical output of the pumping source if the counting of drops is not possible. This fundamental difference allows the invention to be used in any system that has a pumping source that provides a continuous fluid path as it measures actual flow of fluid in a segment of the fluid path, independent of pumping mechanism design.

  • Patent number: 8960499
Abstract: A pump apparatus that exerts a constant force on a bag of fluid to provide a uniform flow rate compared to elastomeric pumps. The apparatus comprises a first and a second block member positioned over a plate, which are moveable to define an opening to receive a wedge member attached on the plate. The block members are coupled by a resilient means that is extendable when the wedge member is urged into the opening. The extended resilient means is retractable such that the plate exerts a constant force on the bag to expel fluid in a uniform flow rate.

  • Publication number: 20140048558
Abstract: A pump apparatus that exerts a constant force on a bag of fluid to provide a uniform flow rate compared to elastomeric pumps. The apparatus comprises a first (101) and a second block member (102) positioned over a plate (125), which are moveable to define an opening to receive a wedge member (161) attached on the plate. The block members are coupled by a resilient means (140) that is extendable when the wedge member is urged into the opening. The extended resilient means is retractable such that the plate exerts a constant force on the bag to expel fluid in a uniform flow rate.

  • Patent number: 8616238
Abstract: An apparatus for selecting a flow rate of a fluid includes a barrel including an output port and a plurality of input ports; and an axle disposed substantially concentrically within the barrel. A plurality of drain channels are formed in an outer surface of the axle, each drain channel having a depth less than a thickness of a wall of the axle. The axle is rotatable within the barrel to provide one of a plurality of flow paths between one of the plurality of input ports and the output port, each flow path at least partially defined by at least one of the drain channels.

  • Patent number: 8523815
Abstract: A pump for the delivery of a fluid includes a core, a restrictor, and an expandable bladder. The core is configured to extend longitudinally along an axis of the pump. The restrictor is configured to limit the longitudinal extension of the core to a predetermined maximum length. The expandable bladder is attached to the support core in at least one position and configured to receive a fluid.

  • Publication number: 20120053556
Abstract: A medical fluid control device includes an actuator that is selectively operable to cause fluid to be delivered from a fluid source to a patient at a basal rate of flow via a first flow path, or cause a bolus dose of fluid to be delivered from a bolus reservoir to the patient via a second flow path.
