  • Patent number: 5280828
Abstract: A speed governor is enclosed within a generally cylindrical housing which defines an interior cylindrical surface. A rotor is rotatably supported within the enclosure of the housing and is coupled to a power coupling belt by a pulley formed in the rotor shaft. A pair of weighted arms are pivotally secured to the rotor forming a pair of centrifugal counterweights. A coil spring is commonly coupled between the counterweights to provide a drawing force urging the counterweights to a collapsed inward position. Each counterweight supports a friction pad on its outer surface facing the cylindrical surface of the governor housing.

  • Patent number: 4582074
Abstract: A hair twining apparatus configured for one hand operation of a trigger, the apparatus having at least two hair clamp members carried by a sub-housing within a housing. With a switch in a first position, pumping of the trigger rotates the clamp members about the supporting shafts thereof for twisting groups of hair filaments attached to the clamp members. With the switch in a second position, pumping of the trigger causes intermittent unidirectional angular displacement of the hair clamp members to twine the strands by rotating the sub-housing.

  • Patent number: 4496100
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a flexible track system having a number of identical track sections interconnectable to form curves, banks and slopes, as well as straight segments, each of the sections having an arcuate surface portion with a periphery of a given diameter and an arcuate edge of the same diameter, the edge being configured for proximate engagement with the periphery of the arcuate surface of an adjacent section. Depending ribs are provided at the periphery for frictionally engaging slots in proximate relation to the edge, the slots being elongate for enabling pivotal movement of one section relative to the next. Upwardly diverging sidewalls are configured for overlapping frictional engagement for assisting in maintaining interconnected sections in fixed relation. The arcuate surface portion is deflectable to enable the formation of sloping segments of roadway.

  • Patent number: 4392279
Abstract: A first fastener part (14) includes a flat disc (16) from which a spindle (18) extends for engagement by a hollow tubular member (24) extending from a base (22) provided with an aperture (54) through which the free end of spindle (18) is visible. A pair of resilient fingers (28, 29) are formed integrally with disc (16) and are mounted in arcuate openings (46, 48) which are of greater extent than fingers (28, 29) so that protuberances (34, 36), which extend from the free end of hollow tubular member (24), will be trapped by the free ends of fingers (28, 29) when shoulders (40, 42), on tubular member (24), and cam faces (30, 32), on spindle (18), coact to couple spindle (18) and hollow tubular member (24) together.

  • Patent number: 4327517
Abstract: A steering mechanism (10) for a scale-model vehicle (12) includes a pair of journal boxes (50), (51) having arcuate racks (56), (57) provided on their lower and upper cover plates (54), (53), respectively, for coacting with pinions (62) to swing wheel-carrying axles (60) through predetermined turning arcs when vehicle (12) is moved in reverse. Stops (110) and (112) are engaged by axles (60) to limit the turning arc in reverse and to hold the wheels (44), (46) on a straight course when vehicle (12) moves forwardly.

  • Patent number: 4158307
Abstract: A governor rotor assembly having a one piece rotor with a base portion generally perpendicular to the axis of rotation thereof with a parallel spaced cross member, the base portion having diametrically opposed tangentially extending U-shaped recesses formed therein with the open end thereof facing in the direction of rotation. The cross member is provided with similar diametrically opposed tangentially extending U-shaped recesses in facing relation and in general alignment with the U-shaped recesses of the base portion, with the cross member recesses facing opposite to the direction of rotation. A pair of counterweights have the pivot pins thereof configured for being pivotally received within the recesses by insertion therein by angularly positioning the pivot pin relative to a pair of facing recesses and then rotated until the pivot pin is generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor.
