  • Patent number: 9689304
Abstract: A thermal regulation device for a cooling system of an engine that includes a pump positioned upstream from a cooling housing of the engine and at least one consumer requiring permanent cooling. The device includes a main pipe for circulating coolant through the cooling housing and a secondary pipe bypassing the cooling housing. A two-way valve is positioned on the main pipe at the outlet of the cooling housing of the engine, and the secondary pipe includes a tapping on the main pipe downstream from the pump and upstream from a portion of the main pipe used for cooling the engine so that the flow is maintained at a constant and permanent level for ensuring the cooling of the at least one consumer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 2009
Date of Patent: June 27, 2017
    Assignee: RENAULT S.A.S.
    Inventor: Frederic Benet
  • Patent number: 8820271
Abstract: A method for controlling flow of a cooling liquid in a combustion engine, including a casing and a water pump. A material temperature estimate, corresponding to the hottest point in the casing, is carried out from a stored power calculation calculated by a restored power integral corresponding to power restored to the cooling liquid if the cooling liquid were set in motion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 2009
Date of Patent: September 2, 2014
    Assignee: RENAULT S.A.S.
    Inventor: Frederic Benet
  • Patent number: 8640658
Abstract: A thermal engine for an automotive vehicle, including at least one cylinder block including a first inner circuit for circulating a cooling liquid, of the type in which the first inner circuit includes an outer supply duct including an inlet opening into a reception chamber for a rotor of the engine water pump formed in the block. The chamber includes in its intermediate portion a supply opening having a level located above the level of the inlet opening of the inner supply duct of the first inner circuit. An additional degassing duct connects the upper portion of the reception chamber or water pump volute with an element of the engine cooling circuit.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 9, 2007
Date of Patent: February 4, 2014
