  • Patent number: 5744539
Abstract: A polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion consisting essentially of a stable dispersion of finely divided polytetrafluoroethylene particles and a polymeric dispersing agent in a lubricating oil, the dispersions being substantially free of polytetrafluoroethylene sedimentation, together with lubricating oils containing such dispersions and processes for producing the dispersions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 1997
Date of Patent: April 28, 1998
Inventors: Frederic C. McCoy, John P. Fay
  • Patent number: 4615817
Abstract: A lubricating oil additive comprising a stable dispersion of finely divided polytetrafluoroethylene particles having a relatively high molecular weight, a polymeric, oil-soluble dispersant containing nitrogen, an organo-clay anti-sedimentation agent and a polar activator therefor in a lubricating oil, the additives being free of polytetrafluoroethylene sedimentation, together with lubricating oils containing such additives and processes for producing the additives.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 1985
Date of Patent: October 7, 1986
    Inventor: Frederic C. McCoy
  • Patent number: 4125475
Abstract: This invention concerns the use of certain biogradable detergents containing as their sole active surfactant component linear, paraffinic alcohols containing 6 to 18 carbon atoms. These fatty alcohols have good laundering activity particularly to launder soiled cotton. These alcohols can be formulated in an aqueous solution containing only builders or optionally they can be formulated as multicomponent solid detergents in the form of a homogeneous, free-flowing powder. Using standard laundering tests these materials function well as detergents at low concentration levels, exhibit comparable or superior surfactant activity to sulfonated alkylated benzenes in the removal of soil from cotton or other cellulosics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 23, 1977
Date of Patent: November 14, 1978
    Assignee: Texaco Inc.
Inventors: Jack H. Kolaian, Frederic C. McCoy, John A. Patterson

  • Patent number: 4039462
Abstract: This invention concerns polyester-based synthetic lubricants having a wide range of desirable lubricating properties prepared by condensing specific ratios of alkoxylated primary alkylmonoamines, monobasic alkanoic and dibasic alkanoic acids.

  • Patent number: 3985554
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for recovering from dilute aqueous solutions metals below iron in the electromotive series by percolating the solutions through iron particles having a size such as will pass completely through a 100 mesh sieve, or by intimately mixing the solutions and the iron particles, followed by filtration or centrifuging. The iron particles are "swarf" produced by the grinding of ferrous metals.

  • Patent number: 3975387
Abstract: Separation of unreacted amines and other undesired by-products from amine-derived dispersants and additives through adsorption of the undesired amines and by-products on polyurethane foam.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 6, 1974

  • Patent number: 3951857
Abstract: NN'N" tris (alkyl) phosphoric triamide alkylation aids of the formula ##EQU1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are selected from straight or branched chain alkyl having 10 to 24 carbon atoms each, for use in strong acid catalyzed reactions wherein alkylatable hydrocarbons are alkylated with alkylating agents. Also, alkylation processes employing such alkylation aids.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 24, 1974
Date of Patent: April 20, 1976

Inventors: Frederic C. McCoy, Edward L. Cole
  • Patent number: 3951832
Abstract: This invention concerns the preparation of stabilized polydimethylsiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymers complexed with alkyl phenols. The resultant complexes have improved storage stability and are soluble in mineral oils. Solutions of the complexes in mineral oil exhibit better foam-inhibition than do oil dispersions of the uncomplexed polymers. In addition the oil-soluble complexes have improved extreme pressure properties.
