Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program products for providing geographically targeted weather-based marketing in a social network. For example, the method operates by receiving weather-driven marketing recommendation data based on an analysis of historical weather data, historical sales data and a weather forecast, and transforming the weather-driven marketing recommendation data into electronic marketing content. The marketing content can then be transmitted to a social network for targeted publishing.

Abstract: A weather-based financial index is based at least in part on weather. The index may take into account any of a variety of weather factors, such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, number of sunny or overcast days in a period of time, number of freeze days in a period of time, etc. Weather factor value(s) are combined with one or more financial components to provide the weather-based financial index. The index may be traded on an exchange, such as the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The value of the index may be calculated based on any period or on any geography (or combination of geographies). Historical values of the index or component(s) thereof may be used to predict future values of the index. Values of the index may provide insight into the direction of a component of the index, a market or industry corresponding to the component, or the index itself.

The system includes a storage device that stores a sales history database, a weather history database, and a weather forecast database. An analyzer determines the extent to which past retail performance of a plurality of products at a plurality of locations was affected by weather using the sales history database and the weather history database. A configurator, coupled to the analyzer, estimates expected future retail performance of the products at the stores for a plurality of future time periods using the weather forecast database and results produced by the analyzer. A graphical user interface, coupled to the analyzer and the configurator, enables users to view and manipulate results produced by the analyzer and the configurator to thereby forecast future retail performance of the products at the locations.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for short-term forecasting of future retail performance are described herein. The system includes a Web-based graphical user interface, a weather history database and a weather forecast database. The method and computer program product allow users (e.g., retail managers and the like) to produce maps and related charts, using weather and sales history correlation analyzes, indicating weather favorability for specific retail products in specific geographic areas during specific future (and past) time periods. The weather favorability maps thereby facilitate retail-based advertising, allocation, placement, promotion and staffing decisions.

The system includes a water renovation and management forecast system that acts as an analysis engine, where the analysis engine executes a request for the evaluation of water. The system may also include a front end system that preferably provides a graphical user interface to the users of the present invention to access the water renovation and management forecast system. In addition, a database stores both past (i.e., history) and future (i.e., forecast) weather and/or terrestrial vegetation data that are used by the water renovation and management forecast system in the analysis of the water. Data in the database are passed in via the front end system, collected by the water renovation and management forecast system, or derived by the water renovation and management forecast system.

Abstract: A computer-based system and method which incorporates long-range weather forecasts in a predictive model which quantifies historical weather impact relationships between datasets, and uses the long-range weather forecasts to predict future weather impact on managerial plans. The predictive model can use multiple regression or a neural network. In a retail application, the computer-based system and method has a weather impact predictive model based on correlations of historical weather and point-of-sale store transactions data. The weather impact model is coupled with long-range weather forecasts to adjust managerial plans for buying, distribution, financial budgeting, promotional and advertising applications. A graphical user interface provides easy assimilation of analysis for specific managerial planning applications.
