Abstract: A security latch for a door or the like is disclosed herein having a closure element secured along the edge marginal region of a door and outwardly projecting across the gap defined between the door edge and the adjacent door jamb. The closure element terminates at its cantilevered end with an enlarged portion and is adapted to ride in a contoured groove or track carried on a latch member to establish three operative door positions. The latch member is pivotally attached to the door jamb and moves by manual disposition between the three operative positions with respect to the closure element whereby the door may be locked shut, fully opened or opened for a restricted or predetermined distance.
