  • Patent number: 11332891
Abstract: The present invention relates in particular to a mold (M) for aluminothermic welding of a metal rail (1), which comprises at least two substantially identical pieces or shells (4), configured to be temporarily assembled opposite one another and on either side of said rail (1) to enclose the head (10), web (11) and foot (12) of this rail (1), each piece or shell (4) having an upper opening (43), which opens onto an internal cavity (44) bounded by walls (45, 46, 48) configured to enclose the head (10), the web (11) and the foot (12) of said rail (1), characterized by the fact that said internal cavity (44) comprises a compressible sealing coating (5) only against the walls (451, 46, 48) configured to enclose said web (11), foot (12) and underside of the head (10), with the exception of the rest of the head (10) and the underside of the foot (12).
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7717286
Abstract: A cover for closing a top opening of a thermite reaction chamber of a crucible is substantially continuous and is secured to an annular filter lining via a bottom peripheral edge for making contact on a top peripheral edge of the crucible. The filter lining is substantially continuous and is suitable for constituting a substantially continuous contact medium between the bottom edge and top edge. The cover is applicable, for example, to thermite welding, e.g., for use in tunnels or underground.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Railtech International
    Inventors: Frederic Delcroix, Jean-Jacques Thuru
  • Patent number: 7641168
Abstract: This present invention concerns a mold for the aluminothermic welding of railway rails. The compressible lining (58) used to seal the molding die in relation to leakages of the weld metal in the liquid state is limited to the parts of the contact surfaces (52) of the parts (19) of the mold on the rails to be welded, corresponding to the bottom, the sides and the top of the foot, to the sides of the web and below the head. The rigid refractory material of the parts (19) is exposed in the parts (67, 71) of the contact surfaces corresponding to the sides and the top of the head, and suitable to be removed selectively from the latter. This makes it easy to adapt the mold to rails with different degrees of wear.
