  • Publication number: 20080034758
Abstract: An integrated air separation and oxygen fired power generation system includes an air separation unit and a gas turbine including an air compressor to provide compressed air for the air separation unit. The system further includes a gas turbine expander and at least one additional turbine to drive the air compressor, as well as at least one combustion unit to provide drive gas for expander and additional turbine(s). A portion of oxygen produced by the air separation unit is delivered to the combustor(s) to facilitate production of drive gas for use by the expander and additional turbine(s). Turbine inlet temperatures are controlled by recycling water or steam to the combustor(s).

  • Patent number: 5797980
Abstract: An air compressor (1) is cooled by a water circuit (5) which comprises a buffer tank (6) and an air cooled cooler (7) provided with a fan (8) of adjustable speed. The buffer tank is supplied by makeup water and includes a purge (16) which serves, when the ambient temperature is relatively high, to cool the preliminarily separated compressed air from cooling water. Application in processes for separation of air by adsorption or permeation.

  • Patent number: 5429662
Abstract: A separation of gas by permeation, comprising the steps of and the apparatus for compressing a gaseous mixture to be separated at a first temperature (Ta) in a compressor (2), cooling to a second temperature (To) the compressed mixture to condense condensable impurities in the compressed gaseous mixture, purifying the compressed gaseous mixture of condensable and/or adsorbable impurities at a third temperature (T.sub.1) greater than the second temperature (T.sub.0) and passing the purified gaseous mixture into a gaseous permeation unit comprising at least one membrane module to obtain at least one production gas. The third temperature (T.sub.1) is so regulated that it will not be less than a first predetermined value. The second temperature (To) is greater than the first temperature (Ta) by a value comprised between 1.degree. and 5.degree. C., the first value being not less than 20.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5380433
Abstract: The present invention is a hollow fiber separation assembly having one or more bundles of hollow fiber membranes with a tubesheet at each end enclosed by an end cap. An impermeable housing, preferably made from a flexible polymeric material, most preferably a shrinkable tubing, contacts and encloses the bundle, extending between the end caps. The polymeric, impermeable housing contacts and compacts the array of fibers in the bundle to enhance axial flow along the outside of individual fibers, protects the fiber bundle between the end caps, and contains the permeated fluid and diverts it to a port or ports at the end(s) of the bundle. This hollow fiber separation device provides a large capacity, and is also low cost, lightweight, may be used as a stand-alone separation device, and does not have a high-pressure section which requires testing.

  • Patent number: 5249428
Abstract: The different compartments of the preserving vessel are sequentially supplied with a controlled atmosphere by means of a first permeator providing a controlled atmosphere with an oxygen content of about 2% for the step of loading the compartment, then by means of an another separator providing a controlled atmosphere with an oxygen content which does not exceed 1% for a phase of extended conservation. The separators are typically of the type with a membrane and are supplied through a group of common compression, and the oxygen contents of the gases which are provided are controlled by means of flow limiters located downstream.
