Abstract: Provided is a brewing device for an espresso maker having a brewing chamber for receiving grounds, a pressing ram mounted movably on a path of travel extending between a top position and a bottom compaction position in which it penetrates into said brewing chamber to form a cake of compacted grounds, a hydraulic drive mechanism for the pressing ram having a hydraulic pump and means for measuring the volume of hydraulic fluid injected into the drive mechanism. The brewing device has a control circuit that determines the height of the cake of compacted grounds from signals delivered by the volume measurement means during the travel of the pressing ram.

Abstract: A coffee machine includes a hot water generator, an infusion chamber for receiving an infusible product, an infusion dispensing outlet (6) and a foam producing device (40), which is interposed between the infusion chamber and the dispensing outlet and is provided with at least two outlet orifices (43, 44) arranged with respect to each other in such a way that two infusion jets, which are formed at exit, collide with each other, thereby producing a foam. The two outlet orifices (43, 44) are oriented to each other at an angle of 90 degrees in such a way that the first outlet orifice (43) is oriented in a vertical direction whereas the second outlet orifice (44) is oriented in a horizontal direction and placed in such a way that the collision of the two infusion jets takes place under the first orifice.

Abstract: A filter holder for a coffee machine is used for receiving a pod with an infusible product and includes a cup (2) having a bottom (3) provided with a discharge orifice (19) and an annular wall (4) extending to a top circumference (5) defining an opening which is mountable on a hot water outlet, and a pod support (10) which extends between the annular wall (4) of the cup at a distance from the bottom (3) and is provided with perforations (7, 8). At least one perforation (7) which is embodied in the form of an elongated slot extends on the plane of the support (10) and has a thickness which enables the infusion to freely flow. The filter holder (1) is particularly suitable for a coffee machine producing a low-pressure hot water.
