  • Patent number: 9367824
Abstract: An action item specifying one or more tasks is instantiated. Thereafter, data characterizing the action item is associated with at least one tool to perform at least one task. Each tool comprises at least one service, application or procedure to facilitate or perform the at least one task. Subsequently, the at least one tool is initiated. User-generated input and/or other data is received from the at least one tool. Performance of one or more of the tasks specified by the action item is then finalized using the at least one tool and the user-generated input and/or other data. In some variations, the action item can be provisioned with at least one contextual resource to facilitate performance of at least one task. The at least one contextual resource can be associated with the action item and/or at least one user associated with the action item.

  • Patent number: 8731902
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a computer-implemented method comprising storing information in a datastore, the information corresponding to a plurality of computer applications, wherein the plurality of computer applications have associated annotations, receiving an input from a user, providing a first verb and a first noun corresponding to a user intent based on said input, and specifying one or more of said plurality of applications based on the verb and noun annotations for the plurality of applications and the first verb and first noun corresponding to the user intent. The annotations comprise a verb describing one or more activities performed by an associated application and a noun describing work objects on which the activities are performed. • Publication number: 20130151315
Abstract: A driver tree represents a model that models relationships between the various drivers of a business. The driver tree and the corporate outcomes computed from the driver tree may be presented in graphical display. The driver tree model may enable managers at any level of the organization to immediately see the impact of any changes they make on all parts of the corporate performance. Embodiments enable delegation of parts of the driver tree to persons with the nearest level of authority and oversight in corresponding parts of the business. The various branches of the driver tree may then be reassembled to create a more accurate view of ongoing strategies of the corporation as seen (and negotiated) by various layers of management.

  • Patent number: 8117555
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses enable interaction with an end-user application to perform functional operations with selected elements of the end-user application or an operating environment of the end-user application. An application runtime receives an indication of a selection of an item of the end-user application, and a command to have the selected item interact with a target. The interaction of the item with the target initiates an action that is based on functionality associated with the selected item and a type of the target. The target type may be a widget, a folder, the desktop, etc. The interaction may result in creation of a standalone widget, execution of the functionality, creation of a relationship, etc. An item from the desktop may also be selected and caused to interact with the end-user application to provide additional functionality to the end-user application.

  • Publication number: 20080141141
Abstract: An Enterprise widget interface in a computing device that receives input from a portable logic module soliciting operations from a backend server separate from the computing device, sends requests to the backend server to execute the operation and receives responses from the backend server including data related to the execution of the operation. The Enterprise widget interface further sends the response related data to the portable logic module for rendering via a computing interface connected with the computing device.

  • Publication number: 20060277544
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and apparatuses enabling groupware to track time associated with a workflow task. A workflow object representing a workflow task is provided. The workflow object is associating with a time period, a project code, and an identifier of a groupware client user participating in the workflow task. In response to an event indicating completion of the workflow task, the time period, the project code, and the identifier is automatically transmitted to a backend application.

  • Publication number: 20060277166
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses provide contextual awareness to a groupware client with respect to an enterprise backend system. The groupware client generates a query or request for data within a context of the groupware client. A backend determines the context, which may include processing an indication of the context received with the query. Data is selectively chosen based on the context, and the selected data is provided to the groupware client to fulfill the request. In one embodiment, the backend determines a permission associated with the context.

  • Publication number: 20060277554
Abstract: A backend enterprise server includes an application that sends metadata to a groupware client. The metadata enables an enterprise user to modify a function of the backend application from within the context of the groupware client. The groupware client sends metadata describing the modification back to the backend application where the modification is applied.

  • Publication number: 20060265393
Abstract: A system and method for implementing workflow in groupware. According to an embodiment of the invention, a groupware application receives one or more communications over a network from a business process server, the one or more communications associated with one or more work items to be performed by a user via the groupware application, the one or more work items associated with a phase of a workflow managed by the business process server, the groupware application receives one or more other communications over the network from the business process server, the one or more other communications including status information associated with one or more other phases of the workflow managed by the business process, and the groupware application provides the status information to the user within the context of the one or more work items to be performed by the user via the groupware application.

  • Publication number: 20050192853
Abstract: A feedback system for visual content is described that allows individual users to obtain feedback regarding selected visual content. A user of the system uploads any desired visual content, and associates the content with a feedback campaign having user-defined characteristics. The user also may associate feedback elements with the visual content, such as comments regarding the visual content or the type of feedback that is desired. The feedback system provides the visual content and feedback elements to selected other users, perhaps by sending a link to the other users via email. In this way, the receiving users may provide feedback regarding the visual content. In particular, the receiving users may generate a virtual note to be placed on a selected portion of the visual content, so as to provide comment specific to the selected portion. As a result, individual users are enabled to create and manage multiple feedback campaigns.
