Abstract: Exhaust system for an internal combustion engine (1) of a motor vehicle which is equipped with a first oxidation catalytic converter or precatalytic converter (4) positioned near the outlet of gas from the engine, and with a particulate filter (9) associated with a second oxidation catalytic converter (8) these being positioned downstream of the precatalytic converter. It comprises first means for generating an increase in the temperature of the gases leaving the engine (1), second means for generating an exothermal reaction in the precatalytic converter (4) and third means (5) for generating an exothermal reaction in the catalytic converter (8) so as to split the burden of generating the increase in exhaust gas temperature required for regenerating the particulate filter (9) between the engine, the precatalytic converter and the catalytic converter.

Abstract: A method for treating/purification a gas containing nitrogen oxides (NOx) includes conveying same through a NOx trap containing a composition based on a catalyst for oxidizing NOx into NO2 and a compound based on zirconium oxide and praseodymium oxide in a proportion of praseodymium oxide ranging from 5 wt. % to 50 wt. % of oxide; such compound may further include cerium oxide and the subject process is useful for treating the exhaust gas of a Diesel or lean mixture gasoline internal combustion engine.

Abstract: A vaporizer, in particular for an exhaust gas system of a combustion engine, having a heating element with a heating portion and a connection portion, and a vaporizing chamber in which the heating portion of the heating element is arranged, the vaporizing chamber having a fluid inlet and a vapor outlet, the vapor outlet being arranged in the vicinity of the junction between the heating portion and the connection portion whereas the fluid inlet is arranged in the vicinity of the free end of the heating portion.
