  • Patent number: 4210046
Abstract: A new and improved cross-beam press includes a carriage which is mounted for movement along a cross-beam located rearwardly of the bed of the press. A movable press head is suspended from the carriage so as to be above the bed of the press. A control system controls the movement of the press head as the same travels toward and then away from the bed of the press. The control system includes means for adjusting the ultimate approach position of the press head with respect to the bed of the press. As a further feature, the bed of the press can be positioned in two different heightwise positions relative to the movable carriage.

  • Patent number: 4157066
Abstract: Hydraulic mechanism controlling approach and separation of relatively movable platens of a press is provided to maintain them in parallel relation. If one of two columns of the press advances relative to the other, the advanced column is slowed by restricting fluid flow return from its cylinder. Diagonally opposite cylinders in a four-column press are thus controlled.

  • Patent number: 3935778
Abstract: The subject invention involves apparatus for simultaneously actuating a plurality of piston and cylinder assemblies which are used to drive the movable platen of a cutting press. The instant press has a platen driven by four piston and cylinder assemblies, each assembly being connected to a source of pressurized fluid through an appropriate spool valve. The spool valves are actuated simultaneously by the movement of a pair of actuator bars which are interconnected for coordinated movement through bell cranks to a single piston and cylinder drive means.
