  • Patent number: 4415056
Abstract: A motorcycle/sidecar apparatus, the sidecar designed and constructed to accommodate therein a wheelchair and wheelchair occupant, the sidecar further outfitted with controls for operation of the throttling, braking and steering functions of the motorcycle by the wheelchair occupant in the sidecar who has only minimal elbow-flex motion capabilities.

  • Patent number: 4386872
Abstract: A method and assembly for temporarily isolating an area within a waterway preparatory to dredging in order to prevent disturbed sediment from spreading throughout said waterway. A plurality of spaced support column assemblies are lowered from a barge outer hull into soil forming a periphery of the area to be dredged. A separate side panel member is then lowered between each pair of support columns and water is then removed from an area completely encircled by the side panel members and support column assemblies before the area is dredged. After dredging operations are completed within the area, water is then reintroduced into the area and the side panels and support columns are withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 4288665
Abstract: A control unit responsive to axial movements of a motor shaft coupled to an actuator. The control unit provides torque and limit switches which are connected to disable the electric motor. The rotation of the output shaft of the actuator is used to operate limit switches in the control unit so that the motor will be deenergized when the actuator has moved to its full limit or when an excessive torque is encountered. Limits are established by connecting a counting mechanism to the electric motor output shaft. The actuator is controlled in first and second directions by first and second switches. A switch actuator is associated with each switch which is latched into position by the motion of the actuator members. The latch member prevents relative movement of the actuator until the motor direction is reversed, thereby preventing hammering and repeated actuation of said motor upon detection of the torque limit.

  • Patent number: 4083359
Abstract: A shallow tank which is inclined when the unit is in operative position and having a relatively large surface to face in the direction of the sun, and a wide tube or a plurality of tubes extending over this large surface and communicating at one end directly with the interior of the tank near the lower end thereof and communicating at an opposite end directly with the interior of the tank spaced above its lower end, thermosiphon circulation being maintained as liquid in the unit is heated by the sun when in the tube or tubes and flows therefrom into the tank, down through the tank and back into the tube or tubes. It is preferable to provide an insulation shield over the end of each tube which directs liquid into the tank.
