Abstract: In general, this invention relates to a micronutrient supplement that can be used in food or in animal feeds and to a method of enhancing the growth of animals using the micronutrient. The micronutrient supplement includes a basic salt of an essential metal. The essential metal can be formulated as a pharmaceutically acceptable basic salt that includes a divalent or trivalent cation of an essential metal, a pharmaceutically acceptable anion and a hydroxyl moiety. Representative essential metals for use in this invention include: Magnesium, calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, cobalt, iron and chromium. When provided as a metal salt, the essential metal is highly bioavailable to enhance the survivability, growth, health and/or reproductivity of animals. The micronutrient supplement can be administered to animals either as a single supplement or admixed with other nutrients or feeds.

Abstract: Basic copper chloride having the empirical formula Cu(OH).sub.x Cl.sub.2-x is prepared from waste etchant streams. The compound exhibits properties that lends advantage to its use as a source of bioavailable copper in multinutrient fertilizer compositions. Novel fertilizer compositions for plant nutrition containing basic copper chloride as a bioavailable source of copper are described.

Abstract: A crystallization apparatus and process especially useful for the continuous regeneration of metal processing solutions, such as copper etchants, where direct recovery of metal values in the form of large crystals of high solids content is achieved and fouling of heat exchange surfaces is obviated by a scouring action obtained through addition of preformed crystals to the heat exchange zone.

Abstract: An electrolytic plating cell is provided, wherein by means of flow directional baffle arrangements a rapid, uniform parallel movement of the electrolyte past all electrode surfaces can be maintained, while minimizing energy losses in moving the electrolyte.
