  • Patent number: 4318589
Abstract: A segmented curved screen (10) for preserving a predefined curvature of the screen surface for an image projection system. A screen segment (12) having a curved surface (14) with a lip having a front surface of predetermined configuration extending along the edge of the surface (16) is connected with a plurality of similar screen segments, (18) to form a segmented curved screen. An extended element (24) with curved surfaces (30, 32) having configurations corresponding to the configurations of associated lip front surfaces is positioned in a mating relationship with the screen segments, in order to secure the screen segments together. The segmented curved screen is so assembled that an exposed channel (38) is formed between any two screen segments. A substance (40) fills the exposed channel, providing a continuous transition surface between screen segments.
