Patent number: 6675845Abstract: A method and package for controlled metered dispensing of a fluid product contained in the package having a metered dispensing system, each time the package is opened or uncapped are disclosed. By the present method and package, the maximum amount of product that can be dispensed is limited to a single metered dose after each uncapping of the package. Specifically, the metered dispensing system is configured to allow dispensing of only a single metered dose of a liquid, viscous liquid, gel, paste, or semi-solid product contained in the package and to prevent further dispensing of additional doses of product until at least one specific and deliberate step is taken that re-activates or re-engages the dispensing system. Such deliberate step is preferably one that occurs through natural use of the package, such as re-capping the open package after one single dose has been dispensed. Only after the open package has been re-capped can the next dose of product be available for dispensing.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Daniel William Volpenheim, Christopher Miles Miller, Christopher Lawrence Smith, William Michael Cannon, Robert Edward Stahley, Phillip Cordell Myles, Frederick James Rohman, Chow-chi Huang, Todd Mitchell Day

Patent number: 6136297Abstract: A system for delivering an oral care substance to the oral surface, the delivery system comprising a strip of flexible material having a sufficient flexibility to form to the contours of the oral surface. The strip of material is readily conformable to oral surfaces without permanent deformation when the delivery system is placed there against. The oral care substance is applied to the strip of material such that when the delivery system is placed on the oral surface the active contacts the surface. The oral care substance also provides adhesive attachment between the strip of material and the oral surface so as to hold the delivery system in place for a sufficient amount of time to allow the active to act upon the oral surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1998Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Paul Albert Sagel, Robert Stanley Dirksing, Frederick James Rohman

Patent number: 5891453Abstract: A system for delivering a tooth whitening substance to a plurality of adjacent teeth, the delivery system comprising a strip of flexible material having a sufficient flexibility to form a curved shape on a plurality of adjacent teeth and a tooth whitening substance. The strip of material is readily conformable to the teeth surfaces and to interstitial tooth spaces without permanent deformation when the delivery system is placed thereagainst. The tooth whitening substance is applied to the strip of material such that when the delivery system is placed on the surface of the teeth, the substance contacts the surface providing an active onto the surface. The substance also provides adhesive attachment between the strip of material and the surface to hold the delivery system in place for a sufficient amount of time to allow the active to act upon the surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1998Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Paul Albert Sagel, Robert Stanley Dirksing, Frederick James Rohman
