    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to coated substrates including a substrate having first and second major surfaces and a compostable coating disposed on at least one of the first and second major surfaces of the substrate. The substrate includes a cellulosic material. The compostable coating includes at least one compostable polymer and a dispersant and may disposed on the substrate at a coat weight less than about 20 grams per square meter. The coated substrate has a grease resistance ranging from about 4 to about 12 as measured in accordance with the TAPPI 559 kit test. In some embodiments, the compostable coating is formed from an aqueous dispersion of the compostable polymer and the dispersant.
