  • Patent number: 7066504
Abstract: A slam latch and strike assembly for latching together a pair of generally parallel relatively laterally displaceable support members, including a body adapted for connection with one of the support members, a latch member mounted for axial displacement between extended and retracted positions in a transverse opening contained in the body member, a spring biasing the latch member toward the extended position, and a strike member mounted on the other support member adjacent the free end of the latch member when the latch member is in the extended position, the strike and latch members carrying sets of strike teeth and latch teeth that are normally in engagement when the latch is in its extended position, the tips and valleys of the teeth of at least one of the latch and strike teeth sets having curved and convex transverse profiles, thereby to compensate for minor misalignment between the strike and latch members.

  • Patent number: 6226979
Abstract: This rocket motor propellant grain is designed to reduce recession of at least the converging portion of a converging/diverging rocket motor nozzle. The propellant grain has an oxidizer-deficient grain portion constructed and arranged in relation to the nozzle to create, upon ignition of the propellant, a boundary layer of oxygen-deficient combustion products that flows through the nozzle throat passage and over an internal surface region of the nozzle. The boundary layer functions to at least substantially isolate the internal surface region of the nozzle from oxidizers contained in the combustion products generated from portions of the propellant grain having higher concentrations of oxygen than the oxidizer-deficient grain portion. As a result, the oxygen-rich portions of the propellant are unable to react with and thereby cause recession of the nozzle internal surface.

  • Patent number: 5327946
Abstract: A liquid fuel tank filling and venting device includes a hollow body member containing a chamber, an inlet opening for supplying fuel downwardly into the chamber, a fuel outlet opening for supplying fuel from the chamber, and a vent opening connected with the chamber, each of the fuel outlet and vent outlets being independently connected with the fuel tank, whereby overflow fuel is returned to the chamber via the vent outlet. A fuel cap is provided for closing the inlet opening, the fuel cap containing a vent passageway including both a back-flame arresting screen and a fuel surge protector, so that the tank is normally vented to atmosphere when the fuel cap is in the closed position, but the venting passageway automatically closed upon the occurrence of a fuel surge, thereby avoiding undesirable fuel leakage.

A fuel cap is provided for closing the inlet opening, the fuel cap containing a vent passageway including a removably mounted filter, so that the tank is continuously vented to atmosphere when the fuel cap is in either the open or closed position.

  • Patent number: 4500947
Abstract: A marine navigation light having a first curved segment, a second curved segment, a vertical junction therebetween, and a single filament vertical light source is improved by reshaping the surfaces of the curved segments adjacent the junction so that light rays bend in the direction of the junction.
