    Abstract: A device for the controlled emission of electromagnetic radiation for use in medical and surgical conditions in humans and animals comprises a substrate which can be contoured to and placed in intimate contact with an area of the body of the human or animal to be treated, an electrical circuit integral with the substrate, including at least one inductance coil, and flexible with the substrate, and a power supply connected to the circuit. The electromagnetic radiation emitted by the device may be pulsed or continuous. The device has application in the alleviation of acute and chronic pain and in modulating cellular replication.
