    Abstract: A sheathing device is disclosed for use with a condom to form a prophylactic device to separate a male penis from a female vagina. The sheathing device includes: (i) a liner body formed substantially of a textile material and having an open end, a closed end, and a generally tubular shape adapted to receive the penis, (ii) an inner lubricant layer substantially covering the closed end of the liner body, and (iii) a means for anchoring the open end outside the female vagina. A prophylactic device is described including the liner body and a liquid impervious barrier positioned around the liner body. A method for using the prophylactic device is also described.
