  • Patent number: 4472337
Abstract: Video discs are cleaned with a water-based solution to remove water soluble salts from the surface of the discs, thereby reducing the moisture sensitivity of the discs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 7, 1979
Date of Patent: September 18, 1984
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
Inventors: Robert H. Huck, Frederick R. Nyman, David A. Berry
  • Patent number: 4383961
Abstract: Video discs are dried by first spraying the surface with liquid fluorocarbon to remove water and heating the disc so as to prevent water condensation during evaporation of the fluorocarbon, preferably in a fluorocarbon vapor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 7, 1980
Date of Patent: May 17, 1983
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
Inventors: Frederick R. Nyman, Barry Stevens, Lincoln Ekstrom
  • Patent number: 4327048
Abstract: High density information discs that have been compression molded from a conductive carbon-containing polyvinylchloride molding composition are cleaned with a water based solution to remove water soluble salts from the surface of the disc, followed by a high temperature aqueous wash wherein the temperature is from about 110.degree. to about 130.degree. F. These discs have improved environmental stability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1981
Date of Patent: April 27, 1982
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
Inventors: Frederick R. Nyman, Barry Stevens, James A. Calamari, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4262875
Abstract: Video disc nickel stampers are coated with a very thin, e.g., 100-250 angstroms, non-grainy layer of chromium which imparts increased scratch resistance to carbon-filled polyvinylchloride resins during compression molding.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 1979
Date of Patent: April 21, 1981
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
Inventors: Frederick R. Nyman, Thomas E. Smith
