Abstract: A fenced assembled from a plurality of pickets and at least one insert and at least one rail. The insert is laid across the pickets which are preferably arranged in spaced-parallel fashion. A piercing tool pierces through the insert and an associated picket, causing at least one tab of the insert, formed by the piercing action, to extend into the picket. The channel-shaped rail slides over the insert so that an integrated hook rib shape-fittingly moves into a gap between two integral legs provided near one end of the insert to lock the rail and insert to one another. The rail, in the locked position, substantially completely covers the insert, providing fence having an aesthetically appealing outer appearance.

Abstract: A method of adjusting an adjustable self closing hinge and the hinge which comprises providing an adjustable, self closing hinge. The hinge includes a tube with a hollow interior portion of circular cross section, a first end portion and a second end portion. A spring is disposed in the tube along its axis and has a spring end extending toward the first end portion and a second secured spring end extending toward the second end portion. A depression is provided at the first end portion of the tube extending into the hollow portion and a rotatable member is disposed within the hollow portion at the first end portion thereof and rotatable therein for adjusting the torque of the spring. The rotatable member is secured to the first spring end and has a flat wall portion at the end portion of the rotatable member opposing the spring and parallel to the axis, the wall and the rotatable member together forming a seat in the rotatable member.

Abstract: A method of making an assemblable fence and the fence which includes a plurality of spaced apart pickets, each picket having an aperture therein facing in the same direction, an insert having an edge with a single or plurality of spaced apart fingers disposed along the edge, the spacing between the fingers being the same as the spacing between the center portions of the pickets and a substantially U-shaped rail having an intermediate portion and a pair of spaced apart portions extending from the intermediate portion. The insert is placed between the rail and the pickets so that the fingers are aligned with the apertures and above the apertures in the pickets. The rail and fingers are then moved toward the apertures until the fingers enter and are locked in the apertures. In one embodiment, the step of moving the rail and the fingers further includes continuing to move the rail and the fingers in the same direction after entry of the fingers into the apertures to provide the locking.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a face plate for use in conjunction with the skimmer apparatus for recreational devices, such as swimming pools and spas, wherein the face plate for the fitting positioned in the swimming pool wall and extending into the swimming pool includes a plurality of ribs on each leg thereof to prevent closure of the aperture from the pool to the skimmer apparatus.

Abstract: A swimming pool of circular or oval shape constructed of interleaved extruded aluminum panels with water containing liner secured thereto wherein hoop stresses in the pool walls from the water pressure are withstood along the panels and the joints therebetween. The pool walls are constructed from a plurality of interleaved extruded aluminum panels which are constructed so that when a pair of adjacent panels are positioned relative to each other in a first predetermined position, the male and female joint portions can be slid, one within the other with sufficient extra space or play to allow easy insertion and assembly. However, when the two adjacent panels are then rotated to a different angle relative to each other, the play or additional space is taken up and the adjacent panels become locked together in an essentially unitary construction.
