Patent number: 6357142Abstract: A system for high-pressure drying of semiconductor wafers includes the insertion of a wafer into an open vessel, the immersion of the wafer in a liquid, pressure-sealing of the vessel, pressurization of the vessel with an inert gas, and then the controlled draining of the liquid using a moveable drain that extracts water from a depth maintained just below the gas-liquid interface. Thereafter, the pressure may be reduced in the vessel and the dry and clean wafer may be removed. The high pressure suppresses the boiling point of liquids, thus allowing higher temperatures to be used to optimize reactivity. Megasonic waves are used with pressurized fluid to enhance cleaning performance. Supercritical substances are provided in a sealed vessel containing a wafer to promote cleaning and other treatment.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2001Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Semitool, Inc.Inventors: Eric J. Bergman, Ian Sharp, Craig P. Meuchel, H. Frederick Woods

Patent number: 5896983Abstract: A package for dispensing one or more condoms directly on a penis. The package consists of a flexible container having the general configuration of a penis with a first leak proof layer inside with the open end of the layer stretched over the outside of the container. The layer has a strip for providing penetration or unsealing. The condom is located within the layer and the open end is rolled over the outside of the container and the leak proof layer. A second leak proof layer lines the inside of the condom with the open end rolled over the first leak proof layer and the condom. To dispense the condom on a penis, the penis is inserted and the strip is pulled to unseal the condom from the first layer, permitting the penis and the condom to be removed from the container.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Airtite IndustriesInventor: Frederick Wood

Patent number: 5658363Abstract: A method of manufacturing a preform for drawing into an optical fibre comprises positioning a rod within a sleeving tube therefor to form an assembly in which there is an annular space between the rod and tube, and collapsing the tube onto the rod to form a solid cross-section preform. The collapsing step comprises sealingly closing the annular space at one end of the assembly and applying suction to the annular space from the other end of the assembly. The annular space at the one end is sealingly closed by locating the end of the tube at the one end on an annular rib of the rod and fusing the tube end to the rib.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1995Date of Patent: August 19, 1997Assignee: Pirelli General PLCInventors: Peter Robert Ince, Graham Frederick Wood, Peter Charles Sampson

Patent number: 5590764Abstract: A package dispenser for garments, such as latex surgical gloves is provided with an inner glove shape, which constricts the palms of a plurality of expandable, elastic gloves placed within each other, and forces the fingers of the gloves to expand and conform to a proper expanded position for insertion therein of the hand of a user into the innermost exposed glove of the plurality of gloves. The package sequentially dispenses one or more elastic expandable gloves, such as latex gloves. When a vacuum is drawn, the gloves are maintained in an open, expanded state, wherein the user loosely inserts a hand into the innermost glove of the plurality of gloves, breaks an air seal by pulling a tab, thus allowing air to leak in around the innermost glove, so that the glove snaps over the hand of the user in a tight fitting manner.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Inventor: Frederick Wood

Patent number: 4051547Abstract: An electrical relay control circuit device which is connected to a controlling load such as a motion picture machine from a power source, and to controlled load such as the room lights, so that when the machine is in operation, the room lights cut off, and when the machine is cut off, then the room lights are turned on. The circuitry includes a transformer the primary of which carries the current to the controlling load, so that the secondary exhibits voltage when the controlling load is in operation, there being a relay switch for opening the circuit to the room light load, and Triac means for controlling the relay switch.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1975Date of Patent: September 27, 1977Inventor: Frederick Wood
