  • Patent number: 10596905
Abstract: A method, system, and devices for implementing a selectively lighted instrument cluster are disclosed herein. The aspects employ a light house layer (or collection of light house layers) using a combination of light and dark materials to provide individually lit indicia on a cover layer (i.e. applique layer) of an instrument cluster. The combination of light and dark layers selectively applied prevents light leakage into other non-intended portions on the viewable surface of the instrument cluster.

Date of Patent: March 24, 2020
    Assignee: Visteon Global Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Alexander Van Laack, Andreas Rode, Ruddy Cittadini, Frederik Belzl, Manuel Pereira
  • Patent number: 10466407
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a combination indicating instrument, and has as its object to devise a hybrid combination display instrument for displaying information in a motor vehicle in a manner so as to provide a homogeneous and smooth transition between an analog display region and a digital display region within the hybrid combination display instrument. Also included for guiding the light generated by the light source, is a “light guiding device”, which has a first surface facing away from the viewer (viewing individual), and a second surface facing toward the viewer.

  • Patent number: 10460684
Abstract: The disclosure, which relates to a display device is created so that it can be integrated in a surface, providing in particular a seamless extension and an integrated appearance between the surface surrounding the display device and the display device itself and thus appears to the viewer of the display device as being part of a surface.

  • Patent number: 10416465
Abstract: Display device is disclosed herein, and may be implementable in a variety of contexts, including a motor vehicle (for example, the instrument cluster). A semi-transparent plane is essentially placed in between a display and a mechanical element member. This allows a virtual projection of information over the mechanical plane in an on-state, while the mechanical element shows non-indicia during the off state.

  • Publication number: 20180219052
Abstract: The disclosures relates to a display system for a vehicle that includes a screen with two unique and opposite curved portions, integrally provided with each other, and a projection surface. A surface of the screen is bent in such a manner that at least one curved surface and a second curved surface are formed. The first curved surface on which information can be displayed is arranged aligned in the direction of an observer. The second curved surface is constructed in such a manner that information to be displayed on the second curved surface so that it can be projected in the direction of the at least one projection surface. The projection surface is at a distance from the second curved surface and is arranged so that it can be seen behind the screen (2) by the observer in the direction of the view of the observer.

  • Publication number: 20180157040
Abstract: A display device for a motor vehicle includes a first display unit oriented horizontally and presenting first image information toward a second display unit, which is oriented at an acute angle of preferably 45° from the first display unit. The second display unit provides second image information from an interior surface directed toward the first display unit. A combiner including a semi-transparent mirror is disposed on the interior surface of the second display unit for merging the first image information together with the second image information. In this way, the first image information and the second image information can be represented simultaneously, with the second image information represented in a plane closer to the observer than the first image information. The display device therefore displays second image information in the form of a text or image such as a warning, overlying image information such as from a navigation system.
