  • Patent number: 10337432
Abstract: A vehicle and method for controlling a vehicle having a variable displacement engine with an auxiliary machine connected directly to the engine crankshaft and to an energy storage device includes switching from a cylinder disablement (VDE) mode to a normal mode when the torque demand and engine speed lie outside an outer range defined by a first threshold (Tout), and switching from the normal mode to the VDE mode when the torque demand and engine speed lie within an inner range, which lies within the outer range and defined by a second threshold (Tin). When operating in a band between the two thresholds, the auxiliary machine draws energy from the energy storage device and supplements the output torque from the engine if operating in the VDE mode, and derives torque from the engine crankshaft to recharge the energy storage device if operating in the normal mode.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided herein for controlling a motor-vehicle internal combustion engine fitted with a fuel injection system and an exhaust gas recirculation system. In one example, in a deceleration phase a closed exhaust gas recirculation circuit is formed, a mass (mcirc) of an air quantity enclosed therein is determined, a first oxygen content (O2,exh1, O2,man1) of the air quantity is detected, a test injection is carried out with an injection valve, a second oxygen content (O2,exh2, O2,man2) of the air quantity is detected, and the fuel mass (mfuel) injected in the test injection is determined from the mass (mcirc) of the air quantity and the first and the second oxygen content (O2,exh1, O2,man1, O2,exh2, O2,man2). The disclosure also relates to a corresponding device for controlling a motor-vehicle internal combustion engine fitted with a fuel injection system and an exhaust gas recirculation system.

Abstract: A method for adjusting an actual value of a quantity of fuel injected into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle to a target value is provided, wherein a deviation of the actual quantity of fuel injected from the target value is determined based on a ratio of the component of the combusted quantity of gas in the induction system to the concentration of oxides of nitrogen in the exhaust system and the injected quantity of fuel is readjusted according to the deviation. • Patent number: 10040454
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a NOx storage catalytic converter that is disposed in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle with an adaptive cruise control system, wherein regeneration of the NOx storage catalytic converter is started depending on the distance to a vehicle ahead. For this the motor vehicle is accelerated in a rich mode for regeneration if the distance to the vehicle ahead is large enough so that the regeneration will be completed during an acceleration phase in which the distance is reduced.

  • Patent number: 10029671
Abstract: An operating method for a motor vehicle having a hybrid drivetrain includes, during a demand check, comparing at least one value which characterizes a current state of an exhaust-gas after-treatment device, with a setpoint value of the exhaust-gas after-treatment device. In response to the comparison indicating a deviation of the value characterizing the current state of the exhaust-gas after-treatment device from the setpoint value, a demand for a measure is indicated. The measure includes supplying charge gas, which includes recirculated exhaust gas, to the internal combustion engine during overrun operation. In addition, a capability check is carried out to detect conditions suitable for implementing the operating method.
