  • Publication number: 20230262154
Abstract: An alert device includes electronic circuitry and at least a first antenna. The circuitry is designed for sending out a first signal, for wireless communication with at least a first hand held communication device, and at least a second signal for wireless communication with at least a second hand held communication device. The second signal differs from the first signal, preferably in at least one of transmitting energy, transmitting frequency, coding and pulse length. The device includes a switch for switching between: a first mode in which only the first signal is transmitted and a second mode wherein the first and second signal are transmitted; or a first mode wherein only the first signal is transmitted and a second mode wherein only the second signal is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 11214403
Abstract: A pallet has a deck, a skid and a plurality of blocks, spacing the skid from the deck. The blocks comprise spacer portions and sleeve portions, wherein the sleeve portions may extend above and below the spacer portions. The pallet constructed in this way can advantageously be made in any conventional size to meet the relevant norm or standard, while benefitting from the fact that the sleeve portions protect the edges of the deck and/or skid from impact. Furthermore, any impact imparted on the blocks is transmitted by the respective sleeve to the deck and/or skid. A logistic system is also described.

Abstract: A pallet has a deck, a skid and a plurality of blocks, spacing the skid from the deck. The blocks comprise spacer portions and sleeve portions, wherein the sleeve portions may extend above and below the spacer portions. The deck and skid peripheral edges are cut away such that the deck and skid can be recessed with the blocks. The elements of the pallet are connected without mechanical fasteners and the pallet can be easily repaired by removal and replacement of individual elements. A logistic system is also described.

  • Patent number: 7562128
Abstract: A set top box (STB) is marketed together with a programmable remote. The remote has a dedicated button to connect the STB to a specific server on the Internet. The consumer can notify the server of his/her other CE equipment, which he/she desires to be controllable through the same remote as the one that came with the STB. The server downloads to the STB data representative of the relevant control codes. The STB is provided with means to program the remote with these codes. In return the server has obtained detailed and accurate information about this consumer's equipment. A reliable customer base can thus be built for streamlining Help Desk operations.

  • Patent number: 6774813
Abstract: A universal programmable remote is programmed for being used with a specific apparatus. A sequence of test codes is sent to the apparatus until the apparatus responds. The test codes comprise tags that are sent along. The tags fall all within a same narrow frequency band. An STB that is eavesdropping on the transmission is receptive to that band. The STB identifies the last tag and enables a server to identify the complete set of codes for the apparatus based on the tag. Thereupon the set is downloaded and programmed in the remote.

  • Publication number: 20030026270
Abstract: A CE consumer apparatus, e.g., an STB is a gateway between a home network and an external data network The STB has an access point device for the home network. The access point device has a first functionality that enables broadband wireless RF data communication to the home network; and the access point device has a second functionality that serves as a user-interface. Because of the latter, the user will position the device in such as way that RF communication is not hampered by nearby obstacles.

  • Publication number: 20010037360
Abstract: A method provides a traveler access to a repository over an information network by means of an access point apparatus located at a transit terminal. The traveler can download information content hosted on the repository for off-line viewing. The downloaded information content is stored on a mobile storage medium. The storage medium is given to the traveler and may be used later by the traveler to access the data, when traveling for example. The information content may also be downloaded onto a storage medium being an onboard component of a means of transportation. The traveler accesses the information network using a device provided at an assigned traveling location.
