  • Patent number: 10749749
Abstract: A method (30) and system (10) for automatically configuring wireless local area network (WLAN) devices (21, 22, 23) of a wireless residential access network (20) is provided. An automatic authorization process initiated by an access point (21) is enabled by utilizing a back-end-network (40, 50) and results in the activation of a basic service set identifier (BSSID) based on which auto-pairing of at least one station (22) with the access point (21) is realized. An automatic authentication process of the at least one station (22) is enabled based on a comparison of an identification provided by the station (22) against a list of unique device identifiers installed in the access point (21) during the automatic authorization process. The authentication process results in granting or denying access to the residential access network (20) for the at least one station (22).

  • Patent number: 10368274
Abstract: A method of controlling selection of an access point includes controlling one or more further access points having service areas adjacent or overlapping with a service area of a first access point, to which a first mobile terminal is associated, to send probe request messages to the first mobile terminal, and determining, for each of the one or more further access points and from a response received from the first mobile terminal in response to the corresponding probe request message, a respective first value representing a quality of a connection between the respective access point and the first mobile terminal. Selected ones of the one or more further access points are controlled to accept a future association request from the first mobile terminal, while the not selected access points are controlled to reject a future association request from the mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 10361819
Abstract: The present invention concerns a wireless device and a method at a wireless device for transmitting a packet, said method comprising the steps of setting a lifetime value to a packet to transmit and, while the packet lifetime has not expired and the packet transmission fails: retransmitting the packet up to a retry limit, and suspending transmitting said packet during a pause time before transmitting the packet up to a retry limit.

  • Patent number: 10270517
Abstract: A method of selectively enabling one of a first and a second operating mode in a first network device is presented. The first network device has a wireless receiver and transmitter for providing bi-directional communication with a mobile station through a first wireless link, for providing access to a network. In the first operating mode the wireless transmitter is not continuously enabled, and in the second operating mode the wireless transmitter is continuously enabled. In the first operating mode the first network device, receives, from a second network device, status information about a second wireless link maintained between the second network device and the mobile station, and sends, at predetermined time intervals, probe requests to the mobile station. The wireless transmitter is enabled for sending the probe request and disabled thereafter.

  • Patent number: 10251028
Abstract: A method for operating a wireless link in a local area network is described. The wireless link includes a LAN access point, a wireless bridge linked with the LAN access point and a receiver linked with the wireless bridge. The wireless bridge includes a bridge access point and a bridge station. A multicast data connection is established between the LAN access point and the receiver via the wireless bridge by forwarding a multicast data stream, received by the bridge access point from the LAN access point, to the bridge station, restoring the wireless link after a connection loss of the wireless link, and sending a query message by the bridge station to the receiver, when the wireless link is restored.

  • Patent number: 10122579
Abstract: A solution for automatic reconfiguration of network devices adapted to switch from the role of access point to the role of station and vice versa. In order to prepare a first network device for automatic configuration in the network, a profile of a second network device connected to said first network device via a network is received. The profile comprises access point credentials of the second network device. The received profile is compared with existing profiles stored in a memory of said first network device and is stored in said memory, if necessary. In case at a later time a role change of the first network device is determined, the stored profile is retrieved from the memory and used for connecting the first network device to the second network device.

  • Patent number: 10075859
Abstract: The method for monitoring a wireless link of a Wi-Fi node of a customer premises equipment device comprises the steps of replicating receive packets as well as transmit packets passing through the transmit/receive buffers of a physical layer by including a time stamp for the replicated packets, and passing the replicated packets to a monitoring unit. All packets are replicated in particular by including an Rx/Tx control of the Wi-Fi software driver of the customer premises equipment device to obtain the exact packet exchange and timing of the Wi-Fi network. The customer premises equipment device comprises a Wi-Fi node including a Wi-Fi software driver and a physical layer with transmit/receive buffers, a Wi-Fi monitoring application for replicating the packets passing through the transmit/receive buffers, and a monitoring data path for passing the replicated packets to a monitoring unit.
