  • Patent number: 5947906
Abstract: An apparatus for aiding in performing operations requiring location of blood vessels such as intravenous injections or drawing blood in which a charge coupled device camera is focused on an area of the body such as the arm that is illuminated by a light source which emits light that is partly in the infrared range and partly in the ultraviolet range but from which light light having a wavelength in the visible range has been substantially eliminated. The useful range of wavelengths may be provided by any one of several methods including having an infrared source and an ultra violet source or an incandescent source emitting wavelengths extending from the infrared to the ultra violet and having a filter for removing the range of visible light.

  • Patent number: 5273506
Abstract: A weight lifting station including a pair of guide posts for guiding a barbell assembly in a vertical direction. The barbell assembly includes a weight bar, a sleeve telescoped over the weight bar and stops attached to the sleeve with catch pins to restrain the stops in any one of three conditions of orientation. In one condition, the catch pins lock the stops in engagement with apertures in the posts thereby preventing vertical movement of the bar from a selected vertical position. In another condition, the catch pins lock the stops in a position disengaged and remote from the apertures permitting the barbell assembly to slide vertically on the guide posts. In the third condition, a user may manually rotate the sleeve, throughout a small range limited by the catch pins from a position where the stops are fully engaged with the apertures to a position where the stops are withdrawn from the apertures therby providing the user with a self spotting capability.

  • Patent number: 5110021
Abstract: A combination rack for hauling pipe, locker for storing tools and extended sidewalls for hauling bulky material on the back of a pickup truck comprising two doors, each hinged respectively to the top edges of opposing sidewalls of the truckbed and which close over the truckbed to form a lockable enclosure or may be oriented to an upright position and fixed by a pair of rack members extending across the truckbed on which may be carried long lengths of pipe, lumber, etc. In one embodiment, the installed rack members are raised above the roof of the cab so that pipe can extend over the roof instead of out of the tailgate. The racks may be easily removed for storage or they may be folded against the underside of the truck when it is desired to close and lock the doors. Spring loaded lift assists facilitate opening the doors and may be locked to add additional support when the doors are open.
