  • Patent number: 9332566
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for service aware scheduling of wireless resources in a wireless network. According to the inventive method, a service request for service delivery of a service type is received (51). A performance to value relationship for the service type is determined (52) and approximated (53) with a scheduling weight function associated with the service type. Previous performance for service delivery related to this service request is evaluated and approximated with a performance estimate (54). A scheduling weight is determined (55) by introducing the performance estimate in the scheduling weight function. Resource scheduling is performed (58) following a step of comparing (56) scheduling weights for on-going service requests. The invention also includes a network node and a system for service aware scheduling of wireless resources in a wireless network.

  • Patent number: 9326218
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a base-station-to-base-station (BS-BS) gateway in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular communication network and methods of operation thereof. In one embodiment, the BS-BS gateway receives information from a first base station which includes a hostname and a network address of the first base station. The BS-BS gateway then stores a mapping between the hostname and the network address. Thereafter, in one embodiment, the BS-BS gateway enables a second base station to address messages to the first base station using the hostname of the first base station. In this manner, changes in the network address of the first base station will not affect the ability of the second base station to address messages to the first base station. In some embodiments, the first base station is a low-power base station (LP-BS) and the second base station is a high-power base station (HP-BS).

  • Patent number: 9264919
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for estimating performance in a mobile network, a method for generating a performance map, use of such methods, a network management system, and a network node in the mobile network for performing the methods. The exemplary method including receiving localized user equipment measurements from a user equipment in the mobile network, including the user equipment measurements in sets and determining at least one antenna characteristics model for the set of user equipment measurements. A path loss model is determined for the user equipment measurements. A localized performance measurement is determined by deducting an estimated antenna impact from the estimated path loss for the user equipment measurement. The operations are repeated to generate a spatial performance map for the mobile network, wherein updates of the spatial performance map are based on further user equipment measurements from the user equipment in the mobile network.

  • Patent number: 9265065
Abstract: A method, in a base station, provide a mechanism for observing random access performance in a Long Term Evolution network. The random access performance is defined by an access delay. The access delay is a delay from the initial random access attempt until access is granted. The method comprises receiving a respective report from a plurality of user equipment, where each of the respective user equipment has performed a random access process and received a random access grant. The reactive report includes access delay related random access information. The method includes determining a respective access delay, based on each of the access delay related random access information. The determined access delays are used for the estimation of access delay statistics. The random access performance is observed based on the access delay statistics.

  • Patent number: 9241241
Abstract: A method in a first radio network node for handling position measurements is provided. The first radio network node receives from a second radio network node a position measurement associated with a user equipment, and a system frame number. The system frame number is associated with the second radio network node. The system frame number is further related to a point in time when the position measurement was performed. The first radio network node calculates a position estimate of the position of the user equipment based on the position measurement. The first radio network node defines a time stamp which is based on the received system frame number. The first radio network node then signals to a third radio network node a positioning response. The positioning response comprises the position estimate and the time stamp.

  • Patent number: 9215615
Abstract: A method is disclosed that can be performed in at least one network node which provides wireless communications service for user equipment nodes (UEs). The method includes detecting uplink interference at an interfered network node. Responsive to the uplink interference, an uplink transmission having a defined configuration is initiated from a UE, which is served by a serving network node. The uplink signal is detected using the defined configuration at the interfered network node. The UE is identified responsive to the detected uplink signal as being a contributor to the uplink interference. An uplink transmission by the UE and/or by another UE served by the serving network node is controlled to reduce uplink interference.
